Everyone is going crazy at the moment. It is 11:30pm here and it sounds like New Year's eve out there.

It's a great moment for us and we are really proud of our guys.

Congratulations to South Africa!

It was definitely no try - good decision by the officials.

You should have heard the bias whining of the commentators on ITV here in the UK - disgraceful :P

Happy Jon :P

P.S - Good to see that Mbeki was in the spirit of things. Gordon Brown's presence was interesting - he is of course Scottish

Must be Welsh to bleat comments like that.
Oops I forgot to add that South Africa are worthy winners of the cup and I bet they were mighty relieved when the touchdown wasn't given. It did take ages for the verdict to be given so I think that it could have gone either way

I don't follow rugby so perhaps you can remind me where Wales ended up?

Stop picking on Jonno ;-) All he said was that the commentary was biased - it was! And, in answer to Sue, Wales went out before the quarters. HTH

Well done South Africa, thankfully we won't have to suffer another open-top bus parade through Trafalgar Square on the BBC news tomorrow.

South Africa met a vastly improved England but still found the resources to win the final and all credit to them for that. The was it/wasn't it "try" wasn't given - end of - and that was that.

I bet the South African's can hardly believe their luck. They won the World Cup without having to face either of the two best teams in the world (the Australians and the All Blacks). Instead, they were able to leave it to the English and French to excel themselves and squeeze out the only countries capable of beating the Springboks and instead were able to focus on the slightly less arduous tasks of knocking out Fiji and Argentina (who virtually knocked themselves out by gifting three tries).

Great tournament, enjoyed every game I watched and was impressed by the advances made by the lesser nations - the Italians, the Portuguese, of course, Argentina and Georgia. And the refereeing was pretty good, too.

KrivoyRog has it right, the draw did open up and make it easier for South Africa, but i think they were the best team (on performance)at the world cup,and worthy winners.
It was a facinating tournament,if not for the purist,it was mainly edge of the seat stuff.

I also agree with Quiz_Beagle,don't pick on Jonno, thats our job on our team message board!

Where did Wales come again?

Jon

Just to follow up on some of the comments made regarding the future of Argentinian rugby, I read yesterday that they have applied to join the SIX nations competition, based in Europe. They were then told that they would be better off in the Tri-Nations, which, as we know, is the S.A/Aussie/
All Black group.

(I know which group I'd like to join if I was magically transformed into an Argentinian prop forward).

Personally, I wish we, the European lot, had accepted them into the Six nations and, while were on about it, added Georgia, Portugal and Romania. They could call it , ooh, ermmm, oh yeah: the TEN NATIONS.
