From his blog (dragonmount.com): "Sometimes even when you’ve fought your best….
Posted by Wilson on September 16th, 2007 in the Robert Jordan's Blog category
It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God’s timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We’ve all felt the love that you’ve been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson
Brother/Cousin

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn’t. I haven’t. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn’t exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God’s name.

Editor’s Note:
The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan’s family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates."

As a fan of his work I visit his blog frequently, most recently late last week. So while I knew of his health problems, his death has taken me by surprise. He remained so positive and upbeat throughout his illness that I really believed he could beat it.
I was given the first book in the "Wheel of Time" series, "The Eye of the World", by my best friend for my nineteenth birthday in 1990. Outside of her and my family, there has been nothing in my life as enduring.
I'm sad, but I also selfishly wonder who are they going to get to finish the series.

I was talking to another Jordan fan not long ago, wondering if he would last until the final book was finished.

I have heard that he wrote enough notes (as he knew he may not make it that long) so the final book could be written according to how he wanted it to end.

I am shocked, too. I really believed Wilson's entry in the blog last week, which stated that the rumors that the end was near were untrue.

Jordan's writings have had a profound impact on my life. I will miss him greatly. Fortunately, he has laid out the entire plotline of the last book to his wife. Harriet has been his editor for years.

Robert Jordan - "May you shelter in the palm of the Creator's hand, and may the last embrace of the mother welcome you home."

Oh how sad! I am so sorry to hear this but glad he was able to create so much in his time on earth. I'm sure a way will be found to get the final book out to us, seems enough was left to put it together. My son's copy of 'The Shadow Rising' is within an arm's reach, I'm reading through the books very slowly between downloads and such and Rand, Perrin and Matt and all the girls have really grown on me over time. Yes, I can only echo igotmeajd-

His legacy will endure.

I had only read a few of the Wheel of Time series, but they were great, and I am sorry that Robert Jordan is dead.

I will read all of them one of these days.

We have lost a powerful author. I have been a fan of his work for many years and have eagerly awaited the culmination of the Wheel of Time series.

I admire his dignified passing, and offer my condolences to his friends and family.
