Even if the requirements for submitting quizzes were increased, there's still a sea of quality authors submitting quizzes, particularly if they've been harvesting them in Word and then unload them all at once. Perhaps it's best not to look at the numbers - keep your head held high and the quizzes will get taken care of bit by bit. This crash will not be the end!

I for one am creating more crosswords as quiz creation is disabled.

And by the way, most of my hypotheses above, it seems, were pretty much wrong. The queue wait times page is definitely jacked - it's not just a case of "GIGO". I was about to recommend the quiz "FunTrivia: Behind the Scenes" as a way of justifying my grevious misconceptions (hey, I write in SQL these days), but I see that quiz has been deleted.
