I found a lot of old broken rubber bands when tidying supplies. Does anyone have any creative ideas for what can be done with them apart from just tossing them or combining them with tomato sauce to make joke spaghetti? Just kidding, I wouldn't really serve it!

The first thing I would do is try to stretch them a little to see if they are still flexible. If they really are old, they are probably brittle and will break as soon as you start to stretch them. If that's the case, you might as well just toss them out.

Put them in an envelope and leave them in your mailbox or drop them in the local slot at your post office. . The postal service is a huge recycler of all sizes of rubber bands.

I'm not sure that this is helpful, but my friend tried to use one to fix a piano key with a broken spring.

It didn't work though, but maybe he just wasn't doing it right.

Well they were too broken to reuse but I had an idea when tossing another item. I stuffed a bundle in the toe of a laddered nylon stocking, & half a minute of sewing produced a reusable washable softball. You make five plus of those and you have a set of juggling balls.

If you have some left over, string up a guitar with them and see if they'll tune up to E A D G B and E (I'd suggest doing this at arms length while wearing goggles). If it works, perhaps ask three other people to do the same and then form a rubber band .

Lol stakati! These bands were too far gone.. the ball was used to entertain the dog, he really goes for anything small moving and soft.. since he's a cairn terrier and terriers were traditionally bred to be ratters I guess it's in his genes! His favourite toy for a long time was a little toy Mike Wazowski (Monsters Inc fans know who that is)
I'd toss it if he ever manages to start to rip it open but generally he just chases it, worries it and retrieves it. It's a lesser mischief, he likes rescuing plastic milk bags from the garbage and leaving them under the dining room table or on the sofa, dang dog! But we love him;)

We have a rubber band ball here that my son made and the cat thinks it's the cat's pyjamas.

Well, casting my mind back a bit, blinking eons actually. But I seem to remember that a positively fantasic girl I once knew, I think that she might have been my nurse when I was stuck in Woolwich M Hospital as my mind brings back fond memories, oh dear I'm rambling again. Anyway, we took a little sojourn down to Brighton and she had the most amazingly inventive way of using elastic bands. 40 years ago and I still remember.
Oh, yes, of course, what to with old rubber bands...well, if you used like we did I suggest that you throw them away immediately. I think that's what I meant to say...
