Hello, have any of you read the Dragon Lance novels by Magaret Weis and Tracy Hickman?
It's a fantasy one - with dragons, mages, elves, dwarfs, gods, heroes etc
I think that they are truely brilliant!

Picked up "Kindred Spirits" at a garage sale by chance a few years ago, and got hooked!

The plot lines are really good, and I think a lot of the characters have real depth to them

I haven't read the series much lately, but I still keep them in my old room at my parents'.

I haven't read Kindred Spirits yet.
All of the Dragonlance novels I've read are either by Weis and Hickman or Weis and Perrin.
The trilogies (chronicles and legends) are all brilliant.
Its wonderfull how every an entire world has been created -with a full history and many many interesting characters.
I've just finshed the 2 book of their latest trilogy, Dragons of a lost star(?).
Truely wonderfull! now I'm sitting her twidling my thumbs waiting for the final part which wont come out unitl a yers time....

Who's a Raistlin fan then? ME!!!... anyone else apart from me?
He must be the best character in the series (please speak up if you disagree)
He's a reall mystery, seems mean at times yet has a soft spot for other weak ones (eg Bupu...)
If you like Raistlin then I recomend you read Soul forge (can't remember the title of part two). But it's all about Raistins and Caramons Child hood, how he learnt magic, his first encounter with Fistandatilus...

Oh, who would have know that Draconians could be soo interesting huh? I surely didn't unitl i read The Doom Brigade (can't remember the title for part 2 either).
Another master piece done by Weis and Perrin. I used to see Draconians as big ungly evil monsters when I first read dragonlance, but the Doom brigade sheds a whole different light on them.
heroes, honour, the fight for survival of their own race, the longing to live in peace amongst the other races of kryn. I surely didn't expect any of that from draconians!

I'll admit I haven't had the opertunity to read the Doom Brigade yet. Raistlin my fav? No, I'd go Sturm all the way Though admitably Tanis is very cool. However I think that they did expand on Raist's character more then any other in their books.

I always liked Kitiara myself, but that's probably because she's the only character I've come across who shares my nickname

I loved this series...one of the all time greats for fantasy fans. Raistlin Majere had to be my favorite. Tragic hero. He was my second inline for my handle if I didn't get the one I currently have. He was just so powerful...kinda like Darth Vader...redeemed at the very end. there you go, I had to evoke the Holy Trilogy.
LadyC...you would like Kitiara. Total independent woman.

redeemed at the end? Hehe. . .perhaps. I think Raistlin throughout all the books always does what he wants for himself, though he does protect his family. Perhaps himself and his brother (and family) are the only thing he cares about, of course that's the point of view Caramon would have.

Personally Raistlin is cool, but I think he's out for himself all the time Still he's an interesting character. One of the most interesting in any book I've read.

LOL. Too true, too true.

I think that applies very well to Raistlin.

Not the first. Not the last. Not even written by Weis and Hickman, but "Kindred Spirits" is a good introduction to the
"Dragonlance" series, as I see it as one of the better books in the series. (IMHO) Here are some more good books in the series, at least they are ones that I like. Stormblade / N. V. Berbeick. Vinas Solamias / J. R. King. Dezra's Quest / C. Pierson. And if one wants to read some good action writing, then read the ones by Douglas Niles. Enjoy

I think that the Dragonlance series is good, but I don't think that I have read enough books. All I have read is The Soulforge and War of the Twins. Both were very good, although I skipped a lot. The whole DragonLance War, Dwarf Gate War, and the joining of the party in generall.
