I'm prompted to ask if anyone has recently done anything particularly silly? I only ask this as I don't want to feel it's an age thing, or I'm losing my marbles - or both! Someone tell me I'm not alone - please!

I've just done a load of washing - well, I thought I had. When I opened the machine, it was empty. I had used more soap powder than usual and set it on the hottest for a white wash. The washing is still in the laundry basket.....

That is mild, Liliali, don't worry. Let me think. I have dozens that are much worse than that. Honestly.
Oh yes, how about this. I rang the Amex company to activate my new card. I carefully typed in my number, which they verified. I was then reminded to destroy the old card by cutting it in half. Yes , I did that. Then I discovered I had carefully cut the new card in half. There are many many more I assure you.

Bought rain boots for all my kids.. wrote the check but forgot to actually give it to the proprietress! Duh! Two days later husband says.. 'what's this check in the book?' Oops!:O I was horrified at the idea someone might think I'd do that on purpose. I went back into town with the check ASAP. The lady just gave a big smile and said 'I knew you'd be back!'

I have put my eyeglasses in the fridge on several occasions.. and also my purse.

I think with my purse i had come back from the shops and popped my purse in with the food but i'm not sure what I was doing with my glasses

Got my morning bowl of cereal, took the milk out of the fridge, reached over and picked up the coffee pot and poured coffee on my cereal. Oh well, there's more cereal in the cupboard...I think

I had a dippy moment a few hours ago. I kissed my husband good bye as he left for work, waved as the car drove off then walked back into the house. I went into the kitchen made two cups of coffee and took the coffee into the computer room calling out the words "darling coffee's ready." To make the moment all the more embarrassing I actually went and checked to see where he was when he didn't answer.

I certainly hope my actions are because I'm distracted right now and not because I'm loosing my marbles.

I can't count the number of times I have walked down the passage to fetch something only I can't remember what I went for when I get there. I end up walking all the way back and suddenly remember, turn around and go all the way back again.

I certainly hope my actions are also because I am distracted and not because I am getting old...

Another 'dippy' thing I recently did was to lock my house and car keys in the car boot. Unfortunately my somewhat incontinent elderly neighbour was inside the car. In my haste and panic to find the keys, I accidently slammed the passenger door shut, hitting her 'bad' knee causing her to scream out, thus ensuring that her 'incontinent problem' surfaced full pelt! Wondering what to do and unable to call out the breakdown insurance firm, mobile out of credit and out in the sticks, I had to walk home (2 miles) and just hope my other neighbour who had the spare house key was in. Luckily she was and thankfully I had a spare car key indoors, but had to walk back and by this time my dear neighbour had fallen fast asleep. Needless to say, there was a fair bit of cleaning up to be done, but she seemed oblivious.

Lilly, I certainly hope your car had power windows and not hand roll windows!

Well I unwrapped a sweet, put the sweet in the bin and the wrapper in my mouth!
I've also phoned an appointment for the opticians and then gone to another opticians to keep the appointment.Did I feel a fool when I realised what I had done.
Hows that for dippy-ness?

I poured a glass of my morning cranberry juice, shook out various vitamins from their bottles -- and dropped them into the juice. The worst part is that I didn't realize I'd done this right away. Instead, I went off to my bathroom to dry my hair and when I came back, I took a large gulp of the juice, now containing half-dissolved vitamin pills.

Gaaagghhh!

I frequently find myself putting the milk carton into the cupboard instead of back into the refrigerator. Fortunately, I usually catch the mistake before the milk goes bad...

I'm not old... but I have done some pretty crazy things, including putting the milk in the cupboard, and boiling popcorn on the stove.

Thought of another one after reading more of these - we ARE a silly bunch! Have you ever put the remote for the TV in the refrigerator after getting a snack out to eat while watching? Not saying I have or anything, just wondered. Well, yes, I have...

At my house, we pre-mix our cordial, instead of having to pour straight cordial into the cups and then mixing that with water. Well on numerous occasions, I have put the bottle of straight cordial back in the fridge (it's supposed to go in the cupboard) and put the made up bottle in the cupboard.

I have also been known to pour myself a drink and try to put the lid back on the cup.

Where are my glasses? Right on top of my head! Duh!

Good to hear I'm not the only ditz in this bunch - Bless us all for doing dippy things ; I'm just glad we can all take time to laugh at ourselves once in awhile!

I'm also guilty of making cups of tea and forgetting to drink them and misplacing my can of Dr. Pepper quite frequently. And I can NEVER find my pen when I need to write something down quickly.

Or called 19 (to get an outside line, which I have to do at work) - at home! Bonus points if you've done it on your mobile...

I think I've done most of these.

I put the loo rolls in the fridge once, prompting someone to ask if we were having curry!

I once put a trolley load of shopping through at Tesco, then realised I only had my expired card to pay with.

I work in a credit card centre and Ren, you are definitely not alone. It happens all the time. I've a soft spot for two customers in particular - one managed to microwave her card and the other one managed to toast hers! Anyone who can manage that is OK by me.

I once drove clear across town through three different construction sites to Sam's Club, a trip that took over half an hour with all the delays only to then realize I didn't have my wallet. As a result I didn't have my Military ID card to get back through the gate of the post I live on in order to retrieve said wallet. Ended up having to show my vehicle registration information to prove my identity as my driver's license was also in my wallet at home. Big waste of gas, time and patience to only have to start all over again.
