The other day i was walking down a street and wasn't looking where i was going, unfortunately there was a lamp-post that decided not to move out of the way...walked smack, bang, crash into the lamp-post,in the middle of a very busy street, another outcome of it apart from always looking where i'm going is that i think i'm suffering from memory loss.SEE i can't even remember if i'm suffering from memory loss!
Although that might be from when a horse fell on top of me....

Reviving this because I did something extremely dippy the other day.

I was at an archery tournament and we had a 5 minutes break in between ranges. I went into the club rooms, and to avoid stabbing people, took off my quiver full of arrows. Break finished, I took my food and headed back to the shooting line. Without my quiver. I only realised once I had actually picked up my bow and reached around to my hip to get an arrow. Cue the thought: Please tell me I did not just do that!
I sprinted the 150m or so back to my quiver, got it, and then began the painstakingly slow walk back to the shooting line - it's too unsafe to run with arrows at your hip.
Now, I'm usually an extremely slow shooter, so I panicked a little when I realised that I had to shoot my six arrows in the time that most other people only had 3 to shoot. It's usually everyone else having finished 6 arrows when I have 3 left!
I rushed the shots, but thanks to some extremely slow (but accurate!) crossbow shooters next to me I got all of them in. My scores suffered massively.

It's a pity you can't claim equipment failure of the mind...

I'm going to use that excuse next time I do something stupid (which will probably be in about 10 minutes ). Love it!

Sorry that your scores suffered, though.

Three years ago, when I was still a new mum, I got up at stupid o'clock to make my son's bottle and poured coffee into it and milk powder into my mug. Luckily I caught myself in time before actually feeding it to Dylan - he was hyper-active enough!

I have also plonked him into somebody else's pram and strolled off nonchalently down the road!

Took £53,330 from someones credit card instead of £533.30 - even went through after phone authorisation.... immediately put it back on though! Red faces all round.

Good grief, that was some high credit limit.

Well that's what I thought although the credit card company authorised the £533.30 as asked what the amount was and put in correct code number - general concensus was that it was a "system" error!

I went grocery shopping with a friend yesterday. He helps me with large or heavy items I have trouble handling with only 1 hand. When we returned home, we were having a very interesting conversation while putting away the groceries. I made coffee and we continued our discussion. Very nice evening. I later went to bed.

When I got up today, I went to the kitchen to make breakfast and discovered that I had put a gallon of milk and three pounds of catfish filets in my pantry, rather than the refrigerator. Guess I'll have to shut up while putting away the groceries from now on.

I have not done anything dippy! Ever! Never! Do I protest too much?

YES! I was smiling about this thread and checked my library account online. My dippy thing is I have a book being held for me and I already checked out another copy of it (before I requested the second from another branch library!)

I could think of others, but for now, I won't!

Editing to add....to late! I thought of a dozy of a dippy thing I did the other day.

I was extremely tired (like I will be later tonight because it is after 3am here!) and went to sleep by 9 PM. I got a phone call at 9:30 PM and I replied that the caller had the wrong number. They sounded surprised and so, I asked what number they had called. They repeated my number. I said, that is my number but you have the wrong number.

In the morning, I realized I could not remember what name they said, only it began with M. My name begins with M.

Oh dear! I called them back, left a strange message about how I could not remember the name they told me and if, they were calling for me, I was sorry. If it was a wrong number, just discard this!

I did not recognize the number, so I suppose it was double dippy to call them back. LoL

I didn't do it but I was the recipient. I was eating at a local resturant. A waitress walked by and grabbed my glass, filled it and walked away. She assumed I was drinking water. I had Sprite. Got a big laugh when my waitress returned and I asked for another one. Rule #2, never assume.

This isn't something dippy per say but something I find I keep doing. In my job as a recruiter for volunteers I have a number of people I call every week and some every day. Because they are in our company the numbers all have the same beginning prefix (and I only have to dial part of the number, since it's in the company system) and I so I have memorized most of these. But I'll start to dial, and think...my supervisor and pause as look at my fingers as if the number was on them, then go on and dial the right number. This happens especially if my day is very busy with interviews, lesson plans and whatnot. I find this little pause funny because I feel like I slow down to catch up with my memory.

Anyone know what I mean? LoL Maybe it's dippy!

I think I know what you mean, Joy. I used to do it all the time, working at the grocery store, when a cashier would ask me what the code for a produce or bakery item is, and my brain couldn't think of numbers, but my fingers knew which ones to press! So when asked 'what's the code for zucchini?' I'd have to stop and let my fingers 'punch-in' numbers in the air to figure it out, lol

I forgot to put a diaper on my little one before I put her to bed last night, first time ever. She uses the bathroom when she is awake and only wears one to sleep. I got distracted part way through the pajama routine and just forgot. At 2 am I hear an earsplitting screech. And then I'm washing a howling child and stripping the bed.

She indignantly told that story several times today-- Mommy forgot!!

My daughter used to wear a nappy just for bed then she needed an operation which meant not wearing a nappy immediately after so the hospital put a pad on her bed. In the early hours she woke and said she needed to use the toilet. It turned out that she was only wetting because she wore a nappy so never wore one again and never wet the bed once. She was just over two and a half.
