I have copy/posted Veronikamarz's post here:

I have no objection, you understand. I read the book years ago, and would read it again. But, how did we decide which book it would be?

Sorry, I missed the other whole thread!
I'll just slink off now...

Is Fahrenheit 451 not available in your library,Dovebear?
You will be very welcome, if you can find the book. How is everyone getting on by the way? I will unlock the opening thread on Saturday 20th, right? Who is joining the discussion?

Me!

I'm about 3/4 of the way through it, and it's excellent.

It seems the discussion on Fahrenheit431 is slowing down now. Time, I think to choose another book, although I will not close that thread quite yet. People did say they needed more time.

I wasn't able to join in with 'Fahrenheit 451', I had too many other reads pending, but hopefully I'll be able to join in on some future books.

Incidentally, I noticed that our library is participating in The Big Read, which is a program from the National Endowment For The Arts, and it just so happened that the first book our library featured was--'Fahrenheit 451'.
The list of scheduled books is quite good, I think, and I plan on reading some of them. It might be a good list to look at for ideas for future reads. They even have scheduled 'The Great Gatsby'.

Anyway, here is the link.

(Just don't make me read any Hemingway, please. )

Agreed! No Hemingway; Fitzgerald fine.

There was also a previous suggestion of Owen Meany.
