As many of you know or figured out I am a Pre-K teacher as well as a mother of a 4 year-old. WE go to the library weekly at our house and pick out some fun books. Here is a list of some neat children's books that we have read recently. My question is, I would love to know some other favorites for the Pre-K through Grade 3 set.

Don't laugh Joe
Koala lou
Anything with Curious George
If YOu Give A Mouse A Cookie
And To Think I Saw It All On Mulberry Street
Anthony, the Perfect Monster
Thidwick
Horton Hears A Who
Benjamen McFadden and THe Robot Babysitter
The Entire Sesame Street Book Collection
Disney's Easy To Read Stories
Fairy Tales edited by Landolls Inc.
Arthur series (Marc Brown)
Chicken Sunday
Hector

Well I'm actually taking a college course on children's literature! (I'm minoring in English.) Some of the books for younger kids that we discussed were:

Where the Wild Things Are (Sendak)
Snowy Day (Keats)
Ira Sleeps Over (Waber)
One Fish, Two Fish (or any Dr. Suess book)
Make Way for Ducklings (McClosky)--which is an old favorite of mine.
Also anything by Roald Dahl, although some of them may be better for kids older than 3rd grade.

My professor also recommended "The Read-Aloud Handbook" by Trelease.
