And on to the other photos -- I love the cards. I only wish I had the imagination to come up with ideas and be original. As it is, I have neither the time nor the ideas for card making -- there is only time for enjoying the products of others fertile minds.

And Santana, you made that dress in one evening? How very talented you are. The dress will look darling on a little girl.

Loth, do you take orders for jewelry? Earrings? I'd love something like that in dangly earrings for a Christmas present for a friend. It is certainly beautiful.

How long did it take Mrs. TW to make it? Is it hand quilted? Was the batting polyester? What is her applique method of choice? If the batting is not polyester, is it entirely cotton (including thread)? What size needle was used for quilting?

I asked your questions and the answers are:

* How long did it take Mrs. TW to make it? - 4 months (she is very single-minded once items have been started).

* Is it hand quilted? - Yes.

* Was the batting polyester? - Yes.

* What is her applique method of choice? - Needle turning.

* What size needle was used for quilting? - It was either a 9 or a 10.

Not that all this means too much to me of course.

That's beautiful, Lynda! And congratulations!
Jar's questions don't mean anything to me either but I can't imagine how much works goes into quilting!

Here's a scrapbook page of Conor playing cricket with our neighbours.

TW, please tell your wife that her quilt is stunning! I've always thought that quilters are amazing people. It takes such patience, creativity and skill. You can hardly know that a person made a quilt like that and not also know that they must be a very special person indeed! The cross-stitch looks beautiful as well, and I would love to see pictures of her jewelry!

Thanks to everyone for their kind words on my necklace, as well!

ETA: Copago, you'll have to forgive me for not mentioning it at first (I was rather overwhelmed by the quilt!), but I love your scrapbook page. The way you arranged the graphic elements are so attractive!

I love the scrapbook.

Copago you're a fantastic crafter! I'll never be able to make such an inspired layout .

That is great Jillian. I have the makings for my first scrapbook, still boxed as it seems quite daunting. At the moment I don't know if it will be used for my first grandchild or for my 'retirement'.

Ah, that is what I had figured. I generally use a 10. The size of the needle means a lot when hand quilting. The smaller the needle, the smaller the stitch. And Mrs. TW's stitches look small, indeed. And very even! The "puffiness" of the quilt led me to think it was polyester batting. Well done, Mrs. TW.

And for any of you who may be interested, the brand makes a difference also. There are needles that will break in half when quilting during the "rocking" motion that is made. I use a Bohin brand and find they don't break.

Now see Loth, that is exactly what I mean. The skill and ingenuity it takes to start something from scratch and have it evolve into something as lovely as Copago's page is something I'll never have. Nicely done Copago.

I was really keen to try this pattern, I cut out the apertures and then realised I had reversed them, the tallest candle should be on the right as you look at it. The thought of throwing away the piece of card was too horrifying to contemplate so I reversed the pattern as best I could. After I finished I realised the piece of card I would have been wasting cost one penny! That is about two cents.

It wouldn't scan well on the straight so I slanted it which was fine exccept on straightening I lost some of the top and bottom. The border is equal on the top and sides and about twice that along the bottom.

Now I will have to do it the right way around.

Very pretty indeed. We've never done any iris folding - it looks very effective. I promise Christmas Card photod will be appearing very soon ...

Ooh, that blue color is gorgeous, Sue. I think the card turned out very nicely; your reversal must have been successful!

Another 'disaster', this time it is the correct way round but when I was sticking the oblong of blue onto silver (the dark is actually bright silver 'mirri' card) it went crooked so I pulled it back off and it creased badly so I cut round it with deckle-edge scissors then stuck it on the silver. Instead of folding paper or, as above, florist ribbon, I used narrow strips of irridescent paper which Ren33 sent to me from Hong Kong. It is far less bulky and quite effective.

I wish my disasters looked as good as yours do, Sue!

I have been reluctant to post anything since I found this thread a couple of days ago, but decided "Why not?"

This is a calendar page (the main illustration for "July") that I worked on at the crop I attended last Saturday.

I love your calender Liz I have made my own, this year (just with photos) but for next year I plan to stick on a piece of embroidery for each month.

I've been making some notebooks with a little binder machine I shouted myself a little while ago - they're to go with Christmas pressies.

I don't know if they have one in Jersey, Sue, but The Paper Mill Shop sells "blank calendars" with lots and lots of room for you to put your work of art. They sell them in A4 size and in the "long slim" size.

As per Sue's request, this is reposted from the General Chat thread:

Here's what I've been working on. It's Kit's Halloween costume. She's Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl from Toy Story 2. I always make her costumes as much out of street clothes as possible because it is warmer (a must in Nebraska in October), more comfortable and more practical for the various parties and trick-or-treating. This year it's a plain white sweatshirt with an appliqued western-style yoke with embroidery, a fake button placket made of an old T-shirt and "fringed" cuffs added on. The hat she already had, she's wearing a white polo underneath to provide the shirt collar, and she's got on plain jeans with cow-print chaps that attach with velcro straps. I have a big piece of fake tooled leather felt that I'll be using to make a belt and cowboy boot spats, but we had a party tonight, and I hadn't gotten them finished yet. I just got my sewing machine working again after 6 years, and it's sometimes hard to sew on an already finished garment, but with a combination of hand-stitching and machine sewing, and considering my relatively weak skills with a needle and thread, I'm really pleased with it.

Thanks, trust that Copago to muck it up! I have provided a 'chat' thread now.

That is a lovely costume, and she is really cute.

Here's a drawing I did for some greeting cards I'm designing based on tattoo-style artwork. I need to add a background still, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. Sadly, the scan can't capture the true luster of the colors.
