Rosemount, by Mary Trimble.

http://www.crossroadspub.com/Rose.htm Leslie Cahill, 16, is devastated when she discovers that her dad, a rancher in Eastern Washington, is planning to enroll her in Rosemount Academy, a girls’ boarding school. How can she ever survive to be separated from her friends, her music, and her beloved horse Polly? While Mr. Cahill insists that his motive is to keep Leslie safe, she has her own ideas. Ever since he’s been dating Lilith, who has a bratty 13 year old daughter, Leslie suspects he wants to get rid of her. Now that he’s sending her to the Academy, it only proves her hunch is right.
Almost as soon as Leslie moves into the Academy, she runs away. Yet little does she realize all the dangers that await her, nor how scary it will be just to find enough food to eat every day and a safe place to sleep every night. Still, Leslie knows she can not swallow her pride and go back home--not until she’s first learned some important truths about herself and the people who love her.
I loved this book from beginning to end, and once I started reading it, I could hardly put it down. Leslie’s emotions and experiences seemed so real, I felt as if I was right there with her every step of the way.
I think this book has some really valuable things to say about communication between kids and their parents. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who not only wants an excellent read, but a way to better understand what makes people tick.
Furthermore, this is an electronic book, which made for a totally new reading experience for me. I downloaded it from the publisher’s website (at a very reasonable price).
