Getting a popup telling me to install a critical security update from AOL numbered 4194.13.4. I have been wandering the web and have not found a definitive answer if this is a true update or a virus. Does anyone know the answer ?

FYI I don't have AOL as an ISP but I do use their Instant Messaging.

thanks

Alternately, the page we are directed to for information about the update is here:

Looks like a real AOL page to me but I'm not adept enough to be sure.

Thanks again.

The page you have linked to is a proper AOL page according to 'SpoofStick', a security feature I have installed in Firefox. The menu bar at the top of the page leads to all things AOL. You might also like to read this (or the whole thread).

All this indicates that it is a genuine AOL update. However, I don't use AOL so can make no guarantees.

Thanks. It is looking like it is a valid message. Additionally, I ran Ad Aware and a McAfee virus scan today and it is still popping up so I suspect it is what is appears to be.
