Here is another one for the Lord of the Ring fans. These are The Remarkables. I think they were used as the mountains surrounding Mordor. Here they are looking much more pleasent. There is is good ski field as well up there.

Ever since the invasion of Iraq, there has been an ongoing peace protest in London, outside the Houses of Parliament. The banners used to denounce Tony Blair, but have now changed to Gordon Brown - which I consider to be unfair as it was most definitely Blair who was the UK's driving force behind the invasion.

This was the barn I raised rabbits in when I was a child. The new owners of the family homestead turned it into a outdoor sitting room for drinking their cofffee in the mornings. It looks so neat now. What creative minds some people have!

My street at midnight on a rainy night. No Christmas lights this time, but they've started to appear all around town. The Santa Claus Parade was on Friday, so I guess people have taken that as a cue.

Mine is a family of orangutans taken the other day, I would love to be in the male's mind, the expression on his face is priceless.

I was having a lovely afternoon nap in front of the TV until about fifteen minutes ago. The culprit? This wood chipper, as seen through my front window!

I've never been a big fan of the great apes myself - they're so humanlike that I feel embarrassed, as though I'm looking in somebody's windows!

A little early in my opinion, but someone was selling these at church the other day (fundraiser), and I thought they were so clever and cute.

It was virtually dark by 2pm today so hopefully the next trip will be possible tomorrow. Meanwhile here's another local sign in Hendon, Brent is the local river, if you can call it that...

Here is a pic of Lake Wakatipu. We go water sking here. This lake was used in the Lord of the Rings also and the hils in the background are in the movie but I don't know what scenes.

The bad thing about going to the movies that was shot in an area I know well is that I sit there saying Oh that's the Shotover River or Dart River etc rather than concentrating on the story line

Here is a picture of a Jacaranda tree I pass quite often. There is a row of them down a street which I have to walk down to get to school.

I would have liked to get a photo of another one, but if I had stopped, the masses of people walking behind me would've got quite mad.

Yesterday I went out to lunch with my Old Folks home residents. The lunch was donated by the Masons, more of the beautiful dining room later. Over the road are these steps which lead up to a very posh Boys School.(all I can say is, they must be very fit, as well as posh!) . I love the way the light caught the side of the steps
