Just read of her untimely passing on Wikipedia - reported as a suicide by jumping. How awful to learn of anyone taking a route like this, but this sounded so unexpected on all accounts. Could any Australians shed some light on this young woman and what might have been her reason for doing this? Just 29 years old with a bright future in newscasting, such devestating news.

This story has now made it to CNN and it reports that she had been battling depression and recently had changed her medication.

I am very shocked and saddened to hear about this. I didn't know her personally although I do remember her as a youngster. Her mother and I were teachers at the same high school so I knew her mum quite well. I wonder if there is any possibility that it was an accident rather than suicide.

The possibility of her death being an accident is remote. The Gap is the number one choice in Sydney for those committing suicide in a public place. I have read that there are at least 15 suicides reported happening there every year. I can`t recall seeing the young woman on television but am certainly saddened at the news of the death of a person so young.

At least would be correct.

It is so very sad that this young lady felt that she had no other options available to her. I wish her soul, and the hearts and minds of her family, peace.
