Hey Hermit. You're right. It is almost an impossible question.
It really depends on several factors. Quizzes with few errors can be put on in a fairly short amount of time. I can't really say how long exactly because that really depends on quiz length, question length, etc.
I tend to fix some small errors in quizzes, but only if there are a few. If there are many, I will send the quiz back to the author, but I still usually read through the quiz to make sure there is nothing really important that I'm missing. For example, plagiarism. I'll also fix errors that have to do with unclear issues of grammar that anyone without a degree in the English language might not know. (For example, certain terms such as 'president' and 'senator' are typically not capitalized unless they preceed a person's name or the office itself is being addressed, but that's off topic).
Sometimes editors can't edit for days at a time due to personal issues. Luckily, they usually inform the other editors who keep an eye out on the queues.
There are also other responsibilities that the editors have on the site than just editing: we answer queries for other members, we ensure question accuracy by looking at correction notes, and we keep an open dialog with Terry about site problems. We also like to play and write quizzes and partake in the rest of the site like everyone else, so not all of our time is spent editing.
So like I said at the beginning, it really depends. Sometimes, if I have a lot of spare time, I've edited a decent amount of quizzes, but other days none.
