BBC report
Quite an achievent considering the way the rest of the family messed up.
This quote tickled me:
"Congratulations to them both. However I can't remember voting for them"

Not too many couples get to their 60th anniversary. Good for them! 60 years from now there will be fewer and fewer couples that can say they've been married that long (to the same person yet!).

Wandering off topic for a moment, how long do you think the Queen will reign yet, before she hands over the "reigns" to Charles?

They don't look all that happy in that photo do they? She even has her purse over her arm next to him, as if to say, "Don't touch me!" But then maybe after 60 years, you really do feel that way...

djsgal, I noticed the same thing! When the news stations were reporting this morning, I noticed that in all the news clips from their wedding AND anniversary, they were at least a foot or two (sometimes three feet) apart. It just didn't seem they were ever next to each other.

Did you look further down the page, at the "Family Photo?"
You can enlarge it to see all of them. Very nice picture of the boys. Charles looks awful!

Does he ever look any different?

Well done to our Liz and Phil - pity their kids couldn't learn much from them about marriage though........bit of a joke really - oh well, at least they are human like the rest of us.
