I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post this, but I thought it was funny and others might think so, also. This past Saturday night, there was an international soccer match between Russia and Israel, here in Israel. A well-known Israeli singer, a Russian Jew who immigrated to Israel some years ago, sang both the Russian national anthem and the Israeli national anthem. Does anyone know of any other examples of one singer performing two national anthems at an international sporting event?

I don't know about an international event janetgool, but every time professional sports are played here, and Canada and the US are playing, both national anthems are played. Quite often they are sung by the same singer.

What made this incident seem funny was that the two anthems were in two different languages.

Same for every hockey game I've been to with a US/Canada team and every game played in Buffalo (since it's on the border).

It's even more amusing when you consider that the melody for Israel's national anthem, 'HaTikva', is based on Czech composer Smetana's 'Die Moldau' a piece composed for HIS native land:)
