Technology is moving way too fast for me, I've decided. I have no idea what half of these gadgets, that are touted as neccesities, do!

What the heck is a blackberry? A Wii ... and how do you even pronounce it?

Recently our phone system was upgraded and they had to put news lines in for a fax and answering machine. I said not to worry about them as I don't use them. (I hate answering machines! don't want messages and don't leave them) It took quite a bit of convincing them that I really didn't want them. If it's important enough they will ring back.

But where can it all end? I can see a future where computers will be implanted ni our brain at birth and a retractable aerial so at no time will we be out of contact with the world.

Well, you never know

A Blackberry, in this case, is a cell phone. As far as I know, it is only an AT&T phone. A Wii (pronounced WE) is a recent Nintendo gaming console, where one uses a remote and actually performs the action as if s/he was at the real thing.

I find the best approach to technology is to listen to people talking about particular items (or read articles). If it's thought that something would be useful, then research it thoroughly on the Internet. Buy an item that will do the job providing the price is right. If it's too expensive, wait a while until the price comes down. On the other hand, if you feel that (for example) a phone carries features that won't be used, then you don't particularly need to grasp the technology behind it.

It would be difficult to keep up with all technology anyway and some people just have more of an interest in the subject than others. Unless a few hours a week are spent reading about advancements in the field, then names like 'Wii' and 'Blackberry' won't be known about. I spend some reading here and there. I know what a 'Wii' is but didn't know about 'Blackberry'.

I think everyone wonders where it will all end. It's all part of being human and healthy.

I know how you feel, but I think you need to remember that a lot of "technologies" are pure marketing hype.

If your life is comfortable enough already and you have no need or want of one of these devices - why worry?

Fashions and fads soon pass - basic needs never change. (And I am saying this sat in front of a lovely old fashioned coal fire, whilst watching an ancient CRT TV, and typing away on an 8 year old computer!).

The BlackBerry is a hand held device commonly called a smartphone. It gives you access to email and web content on the move.

There are various other makes on the market, this is the one I use for work:
