Version 3.0 of Comodo Firewall Pro (a free program) has been released. This is a complete rewrite from version 2.4. Comodo gets generally good reports and has grown in popularity over recent times. The latest version is not only a firewall. Also included is a 'host intrusion prevention system' (HIPS) feature called 'Defence +'. This is an anti-malware security feature. Read more here.

I downloaded the free version of Comodo and tried it with Vista Premium and was informed it was not compatible. Zone Alarm Free gave me a blue screen on the configuring phase, so I reckon it is Windows Vista firewall only for me so far.....unless someone else has tried another successful firewall. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Brand new!

There is only a free version of Comodo Firewall Pro. Version 2.4 isn't compatible with Vista but version 3.0 is:

The majority of people have found the new version good but some have experienced problems. Perhaps it would be best to wait a while until an update is made available.

Although a very good firewall, it isn't the easiest one to get used to. It may not be easy to put things right if you are one of the small percentage of people who encounter a problem.
