I don't usually frequent this forum, being not at all technically minded, so please forgive me if this topic has been dealt with before. I did a search but couldn't find any threads that seemed to deal with my problem.

I paid a fee to be able to legally download music from a website. However, the files are "protected" and while I can play the songs on my computer, I find that I cannot burn a copy to CD to play in my car.

Does anybody know any way to overcome this?

Hello MotherGoose - I don't have much knowledge about copying music, so could only do the usual searches on the subject. One aspect does occur to me though. It might be worth examining the download site's FAQ (or other information) to see if anything is said about copying, or even e-mail the site directly and ask the question. I'm not saying this is the case but if files have protection on them, it could mean that it's there to prevent further copying.
