I'm trying to find a movie that I saw when I was younger and thought that all the great minds here might be able to help. I have very little information to go on but any help is appreciated.

I believe it was made in the early 1970s and was about a woman and her husband that went back to her childhood home which I believe was in the country. The woman had a sister (?) that was crazy and was locked in her room, or up in the attic, and was let out or got out at night. Anyway, the story ended with the woman and her husband leaving the house as it burned to the ground with the crazy woman inside. I don't have any idea who the actors were but I know that it scared me pretty bad even though it may not have been a horror movie. Sound familiar to anyone?

no idea but you might be able to find it if you look on google or wikipedia for any movies which have a plot based on the story "The Fall of the House of Usher" by E.A. Poe.

I finally got the name of this movie. (YAY ) It's The Shuttered Room. After reading on IMDB, I find that I wasn't the only person that was affected by this movie. There seems to be many people my age that saw this in the early 70's and it has stuck with them all these years.

Talking of films that scared you, does anyone remember the film "The Bad Seed"? It certainly scared me . I had nightmares. The girl actor in it was called Patti something. Eek!

That was one scary little girl. I think what scared me the most is that it didn't seem particularly unlikely that there could be a child around like that. She was so average.

Blast from the past with "The Shuttered Room", ClaraSue! It scared the bejeezus out of me too especially since my grandfathers house, very old and huge, had an attic room much like the one in the movie. My brother's and I never had the guts, unless they did and didn't tell me, to open it.
