How wonderful for you, Sue! I know you have been anxiously waiting and I'm glad everything went well! As for being born close to Christmas, my oldest son was born on the 21st and his son was born on the 20th of December. When my oldest was younger, I used to throw a small party for him in June. It's just not fair when people combine your birthday with Christmas as far as the presents go, so this always pleased him. My daughter-in-law is thinking about doing this for Spencer (grandson) also. The boy's name Alexander \a-lexa-nder, alex(an)-der\ is pronounced al-ek-ZAN-der. It is of Greek origin, and its meaning is "man's defender, warrior". From the Latin form of the Greek name Alexandros. The name was probably coined originally as a title of the goddess Hera, consort of Zeus. Alexander the Great (356-323 BC) conquered and ruled the greater part of the known world before his death at the age of 33. History describes him as a man of high physical courage, impulsive energy, and fervid imagination.
The boy's name Philip \ph(i)-lip\ is pronounced FIL-ip. It is of Greek origin, and its meaning is "horse lover". Biblical: one of the 12 apostles.

And a very masculine, dignified name for a very handsome baby, too!
