Continuing my boat saga - I've always liked the idea of owning my own boat, moored outside my property, but I'd rather hoped my aspirations would give me something better than this! It's now taken up permanent residence, a rope having fastened itself somehow to an old post. It's not really what I had in mind....

I suppose I'll just have to wait for it to break up as it smashes against the wall of the builing. Noisy!

I think I prefer it this way up

lilyalli, being on the water has always given me the creeps and your sunken boat picture is just hard to look at.

I hadn't thought about there being someone lost or drowned. I imagined it was moored somewhere when the floods lifted it from wherever it came. I'll try to find something easier on the eye next time.

OnimisiB, your photos are really fascinating. Keep posting, I would love to see some more of Nigeria.

I know Christmas is now over, however my five-year-old and I had great fun making some (more) christmas biscuits this afternoon . Here are some cooling down before we tucked in. Very yummy they were too

Because it is summer here, and alternating between rain and warm sunny days, the lawn is practically leaping out of the ground. My last line-trimmer demolished itself, so here is the replacement, all ready to roll.

Here's another of my cottages in Hampstead Garden Suburb. These are cheap, tiny, and along the main road. They look very nice though.

Drove into the city today - it has been windy, so there are interesting wind effects on the snow. You can see the tracks where some animal has climbed the bank. You can also see the shadow of me and my car

Good pics everyone! I am thinking of buying some kumquats and making a small batch of marmalade... hmmm, where'd that idea come from?

OnimisiB , what kind of festival or event are your photos from? They are really interesting.

ClaraSue -- your photos of Atlantic City show such a calm and quiet beauty -- not the typical views of AC!

Today I went all the way to Mars and back, and if you don't believe me, here's the spaceship to prove it:

Uhhhh, okay, I confess -- it's Mars, Pennsylvania, a small town north of Pittsburgh. They claim to be the only Mars in the USA, and their slogan is, "The town that's out of this world!"

Thanks Kapuskasing. If you all will indulge me...I have just one more picture (ok, two more) to post of my trip to Atlantic City. This one is a sunrise, and no, I wasn't just making it in for the night I was actually getting ready to leave.

Here's a larger version of another one I liked.

Close up sunrise

Those are beautiful, ClaraSue! Your life reminds me a lot of that Johnny Cash song, "I've Been Everywhere". Do you know it? Check out the lyrics here:

Johnny Cash Lyrics

And on to my photo of the day...
Our dog Ellie will be 14 next month, and so her hearing is not near what it used to be. Which allows me to sneak up and take this picture of her sleeping..

Awww...djsgal, that is adorable! I want to give her a hug!
Some of these outdoor shots lately have been just incredible. Agony, I never get tired of your snow pictures, and that sunset from ClaraSue is gorgeous...
This is my "indoor" snowman (whose name is Joe, just in case you care). I have a quite extensive snowman collection - so many, in fact, that I wait to put them out until I have taken the Christmas decorations down. Joe is the largest!

If you look at the photo I added two days ago you may think this is the same, but it's actually High Point in Highgate, one of the best art deco blocks in the world. It's just as good inside as I used to see someone who lived there.

I'm a real fan of the late, great Johnny Cash, and as one of my highest rated quizzes is about him it's obvious that many FT members feel the same.
Today was beeeeautiful, with blue skies and sunshine. Here's an image of winter tree branches against the afternoon sky.

Picqero, I love that sky through the branches photo!

Here's this morning's shot of the river, once again taken from the same spot, but looking almost directly across the river this time.

This is a pink cockatoo at nearby Paradise Park

Some of their parrots and cockatoos are free to fly around, but choose to remain. No doubt they know where they're well off!
