To Buffy 1,

I have found out through bookstores, and Jean M. Auel's fansite that:

1. She is not dead.

2. She doesn't have writer's block.

3. The 5th book in the series is definitely coming out in August of 2002.

The reason for the long wait is that she does a lot of research, and is probably not just doing the 5th book. She is most likely doing the 6th book in the series as well.

I hope I have answered your questions!

I'm reading "Dragons of Autumn Twilight" by Margeret Weiss and Tracy Hickman, for the batrillionth time. It's part of the "DragonLance" "Chronicles" series. It's my favorite book ever. I also just finished "The Prophetess" by Barbara Wood. Very good book. It's about the millenium and an archaeologist who finds scrolls which may give the exact date and time of the cataclysm. It's very exciting. I've been wondering: Has anybody ever read all of the "DragonLance" books? There are soooo many. I think I own almost all of them, but i've only read the first 6 1/2 of them. I think the first three are the best so far, but there are a lot more to go, so I guess I won't know till I read them all!!

I tried the Poisonwood book, couldn't get into it.
I'm reading Bernard Werber, he's brilliant, wondering if anyone has read it in translation. This is called the Ultimate Secret about the brain, and the guy is absolutely brilliant. I was waiting for a moment without too many interruptions.
Plus it happens to be set in the place I live.

It's got everything rolled into one, detectives, investigative journalists, doctors, prestadigitation, love, you name it! Chess players. Computers.

I just finished "The Dice Man" which I did enjoy but it was bizarre. I looked up the net about it and there were heaps of sites about people who really do live their lives by the roll of a dice, scary.

Yeah, Dragonlance frickin' rules.
They were my first real Fantasy novels.
I tend to reread them at least once every two years or so.
Although I tend to like David Eddings style better.

I've read a load of the Dragonlance books.
probably over 40 of them.
I own about half of the current collection.
just gave up following it a few years ago.
just too much stuff.

I just finished reading The Skies of Pern by Anne McCaffrey.
I love her Pern novels.
I own most of them and I've read nearly all of them.

To Bruyere

I found the Poisonwood Bible worth persevering with, I was about half way through when I got into it, up until then I didn't care about or like any of the characters! When I finally got into it couldn't put it down though and would definitely recommend it.

Just finished Stephen Fry's "The Star's Tennis Balls" which I'm sorry to say I wasn't that impressed with (I've loved all his other books). I think I might re-read his autobiography "Moab is my Washpot" which I'd recommend to anyone.

The last really good book I read was Donna Tartt's "The Secret History".

Just about to finish David & Leigh Eddings book
The Redemption of Althalus,

This is classic Eddings storytelling. On par with the tales of Sparhawke, and Belgarath.

Shocking it may be I think the story will wind up in a single book.

so Lord Andry, My lady Valeria, obtain a copy of this scirbes work with all haste and Enjoy. If you don't like it just smack me and call me a Gully-Dwarf.

Jaydodo, Hey! If you like Beowulf, you might like Eaters of the Dead, by Michael Crichton, based on Beowulf. I really enjoyed it. It was the basis of the movie The Thirteenth Warrior.

Right now, I am reading A Medieval Book Of Seasons, by Marie Collins & Virginia Davis. It is loaded with medieval artwork, most from Books Of Hours (prayer books commissioned by the wealthy full of lavish and simply beautiful paintings). It is not obsuire in the least--it tells all about medieval life.

Terry, you got quite a list of really good books there.

Just finished Hitch hikers Guide to the Galaxy (A Trilogy in Four Parts)by Douglas Adams - it was very funny. One of those books that you can't put down (which says a lot - considering it was almost 600 pages all up )

...Just started And the Ass Saw The Angel by Nick Cave. Seems pretty good at the moment. It's the kind of book you'd expect from Nick Cave. Not obviously evil or full of explicit horror, but with an underlying hint of something amiss. I'll get back to you when I finish it!!

I'm not reading anything at the moment, but the most recent books I have read are:

"The Girl Who Owned A City" by O.T.Nelson

"Memory Boy" by Will Weaver

"Bee Season"

and I recently re-read "Z for Zachariah" by Robert C. O'Brien

I would highly reccomend the first two and the last one for anyone who is into nuclear war, disaster, or apoclypitic type books.
The third one "Bee Season" was not at all like what I thought it would be. Suprising right up to the end.

I guess I am on a Musician Biography kick right now. I finished the book on Miles Davis. I am now reading about the sad life of bassist, Jaco Pastorius. Great book for jazz lovers, people fascinated by creative madness or interested in finding out about bi-polar disorder.

I recently started reading Shop Girl, by Steve Martin (yes, the comedian). It is fairly well written, but it's hard to get through the sex parts, knowing that Steve Martin wrote it. I keep hearing his voice in my head, and that really freaks me out.

I'm reading A Brief History Of Time, by Stephen W. Hawking. It was published in 1988.

There's nothing esoteric here. Instead of equations, Mr. Hawking uses diagrams and well written sentences to explore Einenstein's general theory of relativity, (the only equation in the book is E=MC2), in relation to the creation of the universe. Sounds deep, but it's really not, and quite easy to understand what Mr. Hawking is saying. Also, he says a theory is only that--and it can be changed at any time that something new proves the theory not accurate.
