Last week my daughter attended her first art class (outside of school). I noticed that in the class of 9 people, 3 of them were left-handed, including my daughter. I mentioned it to the left-handed instructor, and she said that her left-handed son is also artistic, and my daughter's grandpa is also left-handed and artistic. Since the rate of left-handers runs about 15% of the population, I was curious to know whether left-handers tend to be "arty" at a higher rate than right-handers. So if I may, would you please say whether you are left or right handed, and if you consider yourself to be "arty"? Simply curious to know!

I am a 'lefty' and I'm not able to draw much, either.

Wow, am I the only lefty?

I hope I am right on this but it has always bothered me that I could be wrong because I was left out of the decision. If that were to be true then that is just not right. I am currently right and so far have left the matter alone. However, somewhere in the back cob webbed recesses of my mind a haunting little laugh precedes the intrusive thought that just maybe a teacher forced me to believe that I am. Therefore, till I find her and ask her I am right. Had the decision been left to me then I would know for certain if I am right.

Right handed and write music, poetry and shorts and other nonsense. Play piano and guitar and harmonica. Creative? Yet to be determined.

Right handed and took art as my special subject in college , where I gained a distinction. I have 'O' and 'A ' level GCE's in Art. The A level one was a 1.
I failed miserably at any of the sciences and maths too.

Left Handed and not artistic in any way shape or forum.

When I went to school many manty many eon's ago they tried to make me right handed but I wasnt having any of it.

My parents were furious and told them to leave me alone.
I guess that's why my hand writing is so bad.Heeheeh

I'm right-handed, and I have no artistic ability at all.

Right handed. No artistic ability whatsoever, and generally pretty thick. One strange gift, however, abilty to read, absorb and put to use the contents of any map after dispensing with map. Never been lost, anywhere, in my life. Not a conceit, well, not really, just a plain fact.

Well, I am another lefty who has no artistic ability to speak of, if you are strictly speaking of "art." My drawing is atrocious, and I'm not even good at decorating, flower arranging, etc. My creativity is pretty much nil, but I can do anything if I have written instructions in front of me.
If you are speaking more broadly of "the arts," I have played the piano since the age of 6, and can both read music and play somewhat by ear.

I am right handed and no art talent, crafty yes.
My grandmother was left handed and told us they made her use her right hand at school. Don't remember her being artsy. I have a niece who is left handed and is very artistic.
I have always believed that left handed people were more 'creative' ie. artists, chefs etc.

I tend to use both hands with a preference for my right one but I am still hopeless with a pencil.
My son is left-handed, he can draw better than me and that's not saying much!

I can't draw - or dance, or sing, or anything really... I'm right-handed with two left feet, useless at anything arty or requiring talent. However, my daughter and mother are very artistic and have both sold some of their works. The only left-handed member of my family is my brother who had special lessons to teach him to write right but of course he stills writes wrong.

As a child I was taught to use my right hand rather than my left, which made me into a rather clunky ambedextrious person who drops things.
I've been a commercial artist/ writer/ musician for thirty years, so I guess that makes me 'arty.'

Very funny, Ashmancometh

I'm right handed and am not artistic at all. I can do crafts as long as I follow instructions. I don't think it really takes talent to follow cross stitch. My sister is left handed and is just like me. Our mom is right handed and is very artistic.

Right handed. I am reasonably crafty - enjoy embroidery and card making. Not good at painting but at a push can "copy" a black and white drawing. I don't consider myslef good at drawing though

I'd say I'm "arty," and I'm firmly right-handed. So are most of the professional artists I know. It would, however, be interesting to know whether the percentage of lefties is somewhat higher among artists than in the general population.

I'am left handed, can barely hold a pen or catch a ball with my right! No artistic talent though, nevermind.

I'm right-handed and I definitely cannot draw. Math and science are my areas of specialty, and I remember doing college physics homework involving 'free body diagrams' where even a ruler and lined paper couldn't help me draw a straight line.

I'm right handed and cannot draw a straight line with a ruler.
