An absolutely fascinating article about 96 year old, former heavyweight boxing champion Max Schmeling in the latest Sports Illustrated. I have considered purchasing his autobiography but I'm not sure it is available in paperback. Has anyone had occaision to read it? If so let me know. I think even non fight fans could find this story riveting because of the era in which the drama played out. Pre WW2 pride of the Nazi's Schmeling versus pre integrated America's hopeful black boxer Joe Louis. History in the making, and according to Sports Illustrated, history that needs to be rewritten to correct all the misconceptions. I'm very curious to hear Schmeling's side of the story.
