In September I was in Anchorage, and November, Houston. Both are almost sea level. The air was really 'thick and heavy' feeling to me. I had difficulty breathing sometimes.

People who visit here, seem to have the same symptoms, but for opposite reasons.
Very interesting.

27 metres, or 89 feet. Reading this thread I couldn't help wondering how many FT members think in terms of either feet or metres, or maybe both? I use feet and metres almost indiscriminately, but that's probably due to my engineering background.

Picqero, as a physics student, the physics/engineering world really does get you thinking in metres being an SI unit and all. However, this doesn't transfer over to the way I think about the distance I travel in a car. Whether or not it is because all the signposts are in miles or what not, I don't know, but I am stuck in miles in that regard.

Those are latitude and longitude numbers; altitude is how many feet above/below sea level.

Maybe I am the only one but I keep reading the title of this thread as "What is your ATTITUDE?"
Anyway....it seems to be 26 feet above, my altitude I mean

Hong Kong =Latitude: 22° 18' 32" N (deg min sec), 22.3089° (decimal), 2218.54N (LORAN)
Longitude: 113° 54' 53" E (deg min sec), 113.9146° (decimal), 11354.88E (LORAN)
Elevation: 8 meters (26 feet) -- validated against 6 meters (20 feet) from SRTM.C_20TO43_3

Found this nifty site that tells for your postal code in The Netherlands, so I can be quite precise

This street is calculated as being 1.7 meters above sea level (around 5,6 feet)

I must confess that at first I also misread the heading as 'attitude' and wondered what sort of entries I'd find here.

In Memphis Tennessee there is a marker downtown on Front Street stating that the marker is 325 feet above sea level.

Something to think about: Should both Polar icecaps and the ice covering Greenland melt, Memphis would be a seaport.
