This was my birthday cake from a couple of weeks ago. (Thanks for the nice wishes, Liz, by the way! ) It was chocolate/peanut butter, and delish.

Here's our small local river, the Battle - still frozen over. You should be able to see the snowmobile tracks, this is a popular spot for sledding.

Having taken nearly every house I know I'm down to architectural features. Still living in the area we used to (Hampstead Garden Suburb) my mum volunteered to help with the survey of them for the council, and unlike most people's houses in the country all were designed by architects and you certainly have to pay for it (why I don't live there or that near it).

Going back to the frozen "theme," this is sleet that is on my fence.



I could have gone a few more weeks then would not have had to see any all winter!

Sorry to learn of your little dog's passing Lady1, it's always a sad time when they go....

I'd love to taste a Chocolate/Peanut Butter cake! I must find a recipe right away!

Agony, that's more like the river I grew up near, in southwestern Ontario. Frozen hard enough that our sledding hill ended skidding out onto the frozen river!

I think I posted a photo of this old farmhouse now food and crafty country store in the summer, but thought a winter view of it would be OK. Was shopping/browsing there today with my sister.

Mothergoose, that house is not unlike what my kids call 'the Mushroom house' about a kilometre away from us. The 'mushroom' house is a wooden, UFO-shaped house and looks fascinating. I believe it's a doctor's surgery and I must make an effort to photograph it for this thread! Thanks for 'reminding' me.

A group of daffodils, growing beside my garden fence. These are a miniature muti-headed variety, and quite pretty.

Ah! the first sign of Spring!! Thanks for that Picq, I could use that sight to start my day. Still snowing and sleeting here....

Down at the campground today. The dog and I were walking along the snowmobile tracks, as it was much easier than slogging through deep snow. As you can see from these tracks, we weren't the only ones!

One thing I always like is photos of random people. It's not easy as you can't ask them and don't want to be seen, but you can get lucky sometimes. These people were waiting for a bus in Golders Green.

When we visited the Island of Kauai there were chickens wandering everywhere. Apparently when the last Hurricane went through several years ago many of the family chickens escaped. No one had time to try and recapture them and they went wild.

Ren I had a white geranium but I think the bees change the colour when they pollinate them. Hard to find too.

This is the view from our hotel room in Hawaii. Waikiki is behind all the tall buildings. I couldn't afford the beach front hotels. A nice view all the same.

Ha! No, that's my very hairy dog. He was pretty interested in all those deer tracks - when you walk a spaniel, it's nose down, all the way.
