You know it can't last forever, BG. One morning soon you'll wake up to a breeze that doesn't make your teeth rattle -I promise. This week's high is the coming marriage of my 30 year old son - I was beginning to think it would never happen. One week from this morning we'll all be gathered on the [frigid] riverbank out in the middle of nowhere, with a potluck dinner and assorted relatives I haven't seen in years. I'm not actually looking forward to seeing his dad after so many years - but all in all, it should be fine.

ktstew, I am still waiting in Ohio for a morning breeze that doesn't make my teeth rattle! I just wanted to say congratulations also on the news of your son's wedding. As far as the ex-husband goes, mine refused to attend our oldest son's because his current wife/bimbo didn't like me. That was a heartbreaker and the wife divorced him and took him to the cleaners the following year. Karma baby! What I am trying to say, is that I would have gladly put aside any differences he and I had for one of our boys, and I'm sure you feel the same. Sandy

Thank you all for the good wishes! So many years have passed that I assume the man has calmed down and will act the solid citizen during his son's wedding. Otherwise he would have me to answer to and nobody wants that.

They give them to teenagers here too, an excellent idea. Hopefully it won't be a really fretful baby and you will get some sleep.

Learn from it, Lioness! I don't think people should be able to have kids til they're thirty Not high or low but today we're having a home visit from Conor's teacher. *gasp* She is lovely and all but I'm sitting here trying to listen to what is going on in there and hoping against hope that he doesn't say "[censored]" isn't of "are" again!! (okay, that got censored - put an S inbetween the R and E!!)

Funny, third time in about a week I had a dream that I had twin babies. I'm in my late 40s, twins at my age, no thanks! They were gorgeous though. I DID have twins in my mid 20s which was a great age for it.
Highlight of this week may not mean much to most people but was to me.. I've been looking out for migrating white storks for last couple of weeks without success and today I was just following a flock of pigeons with my binocs in the air (something I don't usually bother to do) when they flew right in front of a flock of storks over 100 strong that I'd almost definitely NOT have noticed with the naked eye. I was elated!
Low point? A couple of days ago when I was bone tired and the immediate neighbours plus one of my boys were being noisy. I REALLY don't like sleep deprivation, it makes me turn green and nasty. Happily I did not remain conscious for very long, even with all that interference. Not really very low I know, but needed some contrast for the post...

A definite low - Yesterday, after me trying for a few hours to get my laptop computer to boot up without success and having the Geek Squad try their hands at it, it was declared dead.
A nice high - Last night I got a new laptop computer. It's a bit smaller than my last one and has Windows Vista instead of XP, but I think I might like this one.

Congratulations ClaraSue. Enjoy your new laptop. My low of the day was the power went out at 12pm and only came back at 3.30pm. The high was that while it was out I cleaned out my cupboard and my diningroom dresser. The other half will be impressed!

The high point of my week is that I get to spend time with a friend. The low would be that, due to corporate idiocy, there are only 4 people in the bakery this next week. There was only 2 of us today and I am so glad I'm off tonight. We currently have 4 people, with the occasional shift covered by someone from another store, in a bakery that could easily support 5 full timers and 2-3 part timers.

My low is that my back has gone out and I can barely stand and I have things to do in the next few days that need to get done. I can't take the chance of trying to do them as it will make my back worse and I will be reduced to crawling around on my hands and knees which isn't fun believe me. I had to do it once before but at least this time I have carpeting all through the apt. My high for the week is getting a nice cheque in the mail that I won doing a Newspaper survey.I was pleasantly surprised when they emailed me to tell me I had won that months draw. I will use it to buy myself a great belated Birthday present. I just have to figure out what I want. Back to bed with more pain killers.

Hope your back is starting to feel better PurpleFan, I know just how you feel. Mine is achy too, from all the coughing I've been doing this week; I guess that qualifies as a low. My high is that my hubby will be returning tomorrow from a week in Massachusetts.

Sorry you've hurt your back PF, I know how bad that can be. My husband has a bad back and I can see how much pain he's in sometimes. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for the kind words Burgurl and ClaraSue. I try and be careful when doing things but sometimes I forget to be cautious and Bingo it lets me know I was not paying attention. Thank goodness this appears to be a short episode but painful one. High is that my glasses are ready to pick up so I can quit wearing these old ones that make me look like a Owl.

I have seen teenagers with "virtual babies", which, I agree, is a good way to prepare them for the real thing - or to deter them Glad you got a new laptop Clarasue, it's amazing how much you rely on computers. What a shame, losing all your "Treasure Clues". I've seen them dotted about but not been actively looking for them. Hope your backache eases, Purplefan. I have bad backs sometime, ands it's rotten to be in pain. High Light for my week, getting a certificate for passing the first module of my computer course - 6 more to go. And my niece is expecting her first child in three weeks time.

My high, after 2 1/2 months I finally got the DVD of my latest TV programme that was only shown in America. I was in it for just over 3 minutes, but that's double the others so all adds up.

My high for today is my back is fine.
My low is dealing with incompatent eyeglass people.
I needed a lens changed so I took the glasses back to where I got them and they said it looked like I had melted the coating off them.Excuse me
I said how can that be I didn't boil them and I hardly think Tap water ever gets that hot.
Anyway I paid a high price to get the left lens fixed and the lady said I could take them to a store closer to me so I didnt have to go all the way back downtown.
I wait two weeks and nothing happens so I call the store where I am suppose to take them to get the new lens and they say they have never heard of me and have no clue what I am talking about.
I call the downtown store and the lady is just about to call me (so she says) and let me know the lens is ready to be fitted in my frame.
I take my glasses to the store nearest me and the lady there checks the lens to make sure it is the left one.
I get a call two days later to come back as my lens is ready.I get there only to discover they have done the wrong lens.
How can that be? Tthey are going to owe me either a discount or something for their incomptence.
I have a feeling I will get neither.
I shall never deal with this store again nor will anyone else in my family or friends .
I can't wait to hear how the mistake was made.
Hopefully this coming week will turn out well.

My high point is that yesterday I received a book (a biography of silent screen actress Renée Jeanne Falconetti). It was ever-so-kindly sent by an FT member who lives in Spain and the book is written in French. The low point is that I only speak English (and a passable version of German, when necessary). Any bets on how long it'll take me to read about this fascinating woman ? The shocking thing is - just by referencing a handful of keywords, I've managed the first couple of pages without much of a sweat (the built-in eye strain a given, considering that's a problem, no matter what the language). The photographs in it are entirely exceptional, though, that's for sure .
