Two highs to report!! How about that! I have recently discovered a Yankee Candle that I just love, only problem is it's a retired scent - of course! But I was able to find some on eBay and I bought two of them; they came just in time for my birthday. I am currently burning my new Jesmine Green Tea Yankee candle and loving it.
Second and more important high to share is that I was able to speak to my husband today. This is only important because it is such a rarity to speak to him. When in Afghanistan I could rely on hearing from him every day, but now it's next to impossible to get calls out from Iraq. I doubt I can ever say that things there are "good" per se, but hearing that he is fine directly from him certainly does help my day get off to a good start.

That is great news BG. Yesterday was the high point of my week. I spent the whole day with my friend. Since that was Sunday, there isn't a low point yet this week. I'm sure there will be one but as of yet, I'm still a happy camper!

Great news, BG. See my PM. My low this week is ClaraSue broke a tooth and now has to undergo surgery to have it removed. Her favorite gnawing toy is a Nylabone that she's had for literally years. Twice in her life of 9 years I have given her a T-bone steak bone to chew. The second time it broke her top molar. She's on antibiotics and pain pills and her surgery is scheduled for Friday morning. I feel just awful that I could have prevented this pain she must be feeling.

My word Lisa, how did you know that Clara broke a tooth, were you watching her in the act? Was she crying? I hope the poor girl isn't suffering too much, Friday is a long way off when you're in pain.
Thanks everyone for the well-wishes, it's a bright spot in my rainy day!

The low spot this week has to be the earthquake. It was heartwrenching yesterday when we all stood in silence to mourn for 3 minutes, exactly one week since this terrible tragedy. The high, if it is one, is that the Chinese people seem more united than they have ever been. This seems to mave made them softer and more human somehow, nationally I mean.It is hard to explain what I mean really. There have been some wonderful rescues , and the PLA and firemen have been,as is usual wherever they are all over the world, the greatest of heroes. Firefighters are such special people aren't they? One high is I have my ticket for UK on June 23rd, paid for by my boss (well I have to pay the taxes)

Hi everyone, big apologies for not being able to pop in much lately - just been busy busy busy and tomorrow we start shearing so it's not going to slow down at any time soon. Oh well, it's keeping me out of trouble Great to see you've been able to speak to your hubby Burgurl - it must be a good boost for both of you. All the best for the piano exam, Lioness ... keep us posted of the result! sorry to hear about Charlie, Lady. But you have brought back lots of memories of my grandparents maltese from many many years ago. Such a good companion dog they are.

Thanks everyone. My friend is feeling very guilty now and doing the 'what if' thing. She was realy attached to Charlie, he waited for her at the gate when she got home everyday. Don't know how he knew what the time was. Sara, I'm suprised Sue did not work that one out herself. The old dear must be getting slow. Poor you Copago with all that work. Remember the good looking shearers advantage... How is your Italian girl doing?

Good news for the week: ClaraSue came through her tooth-pulling surgery with flying colors. But she picked up an awful habit while at the vets office. Some other dog must have taught her how to whine, because in her nine years she has never whined before and since I brought her home on Friday, now does it for everything. I told her this was unacceptable behaviour and next time I take her to the vets, I'm having her changed into a cat. I also noticed that I missed my 5 year anniversary date here at FT. I can't believe it's been that long since I've registered; seems like the time has just flown by. Hey Gats, you and I have the same date just different year as our anniversary!

A few days ago there was a house fire a few miles away caused by faulty wiring in an airing cupboard. The house had smoke alarms but the batteries had run down. A woman and a three year old child were brought out unconscious suffering from smoke inhalation, the little girl died several hours later, they were unable to stabalise her to get her airlifted to a specialist unit in the UK.
The child's name wasn't released until today as the mother hadn't gained consciousness, she has now and is making progress. As I read it the name seemed familiar to me, then the penny dropped, I worked with the mother a couple of years ago for some weeks. I can remember her now going gooey when mentioning her daughter, she was her life. So sad.

Oh Sue how awful. Perhaps it is a lesson to us all to check the batteries in our smoke detectors.
Go and do so now!

High spot for me... As some of you might be aware I make cards (ok so I bore you to death over it!). Anyway, I posted a scan of the latest card that I made which actually features Aramis and one of the best parchment people in the UK saw it and told me that my work was extremely good! She didn't need to make any comment so presumably she wasn't just being nice. I will post the piece in the Craft Photo Gallery.
