Just got around to seeing this one, from 2003. Michael Caine and Robert Duvall are the two eccentric uncles, Haley Joel Osment is the kid. What a sweet movie, perfect for watching with your kids. My daughter has been after me to see this with her for some time - it was a favourite of her and her dad's.

She just watched "To Kill a Mockingbird" at school last week (they are 'doing' the book) and was asking me what else she's seen Duvall (Boo Radley) in. I couldn't think of anything she'd seen - "The Godfather", "Apocalypse Now" "Lonesome Dove" not being her kind of movies. And then, there he was...

Secondhand Lions is one of my very favorite movies. And you're right, it is the PERFECT family movie!

Lions is one of those oddball movies that is family friendly, yet quirky enough to be enjoyed by adults too.
Perfect casting of Kyra Sedgewick, Michael Caine and Robert Duvall. And, of course, Joel Haley Osment is good as the long suffering Walter.

It helps that there's a fine soundtrack and that it's about a commercial artist raised in Texas by eccentric relatives.
I can get in line with that pretty easily.

Older topic, but had to post. "Second Hand Lions" is just brilliant in any and all possible ways a movie could be.

Deserved more attention at its release, and still deserves attention now!

I also love this movie so much.
It was also just on tv yesterday on Abcfamily I think, or maybe it was TBS. I can't remember.

I noticed there are a few quizzes about the movie on here.

Darn, I have tried to watch this movie quite a few times and always miss it by a few hours or a day/night! I've heard great things about it and it has a cast of actors I thoroughly enjoy. I am making a promise to myself after reading this that the next time it is on, I will watch it come Hades or high water! Wish me luck...

This is such a good family movie, I bought it to have in my collection. If a movie is "children friendly," I like to have my own copy. This one is well worth buying.
