Inspired by the riveting is Gollum a Hobbit debate I've decided to address this curious issue.
Was Frodo gay? Lets look at the evidence. At a young age he moved in with an older man. Did he ever have a girlfriend, or a wife or even produce offspring. No. Did he flee Middle Earth to venture overseas to live with Elves and Fairies. Yes Sir he did. Frodo seemed to prefer the company of other young hobbits, often going of into for jolly jaunts into the countryside with them.
And while were on the subject what about Bilbo. Did he flee the conservative Shire to live in Rivendell with the elves where he could live his lifestyle without fear of persecution. And finally what's with all the rings. Was Bilbo's parting gift to Frodo even more symbolic than we realized.

Perhaps, you ought to look more closely at the words and life of the author.

Hmmm perhaps. Lets see how I go. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. The name Reuel is a family name from his fathers side and means friend of god in Hebrew. Each of John's siblings was given the name. Born in Bloemfontain in 1892 to Arthur and Mabel English immigrants. After Tolkien was bitten by a Tarantula at a young age he developed a dislike of spiders for the rest of his life.(Shelob & Ungoliant!) Blah blah blah.
I guess you mean the Inklings with reference to my Frodo question however. But frankly who cares I'm just havin some fun.

LOL,

As a person who was greatly involved in the "Gollum was a hobbit" debate I can only laugh at this topic. No, I don't believe that Frodo was gay, but you are not the first to suggest it. It has been suggested that The Lord of the Rings is homoerotic due to the lack of female characters AND the fact that the male characters bond awfully close to each other.

However, this is really a reference to World War I, which greatly influenced Tolkien's writings. During WWI it was only men that fought in the trenches and in the great battle while the women stayed at home. This is reflected in LOTR by how most of the female characters remain in their lands during all the battles. Yet Eowyn, by far one of the best characters in the novel, breaks from the tradition and eventually kills the Lord of the Nazgul.

There you go. Frodo is not gay in my opinion. But wait because TemplarLLM may have something to say about it. :P
