After the deaths of Richard Widmark and Jules Dassin, now Charleton Heston has died at 84. He was best known as the muscular star of such epics as "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben-Hur", which earned him the Best Actor Oscar. But he also did other types of film; crime dramas such as "Dark City", his first film lead, and Westerns such as "Will Penny", possibly his finest film.

A truly 'epic' character.

Sorry - but that's pretty low.

You must have known him well, then.

He has made many memorable films; some of them my favorites. He was a great actor and a good man. He will be missed.

I didn't see it on the news either. How sad, I have watched many of his films, over and over again.
El Cid, The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur and Khartoum. The man was a Hollywood Great and will be remembered with great love and respect.

When a man who was a great actor in some eyes, and then becomes deeply involved in the NRA Gun Lobby, how can he not be remembered for this "political involvement?"
I respect him as an actor, but his involvement and activities in the aforementioned arenas have left me with very little admiration for him as a person.
This is a "Forum" where I don't see anything wrong with expressing our opinions in a polite manner.
