So...sky or water?

OOo, I remember that one, lioness, so I will withhold my answer and see if someone else knows it!

I haven't looked back through the Photo-a-Day thread to find the photo (honest ) but I think it looks so much like the sky that I'm going to say we're seeing 'water', possibly reflecting the sky.

Is it in the southern corner of South Australia? If so, I know what it is.

Yeah, quogequox, you're right.

It is a lake in Mt Gambier called the Blue Lake. In summer it goes that light light blue, and in winter it turns a more blueish grey.

I specifically took the photo to see how many people I could confuse by asking them if it were sky or water.

So, it is water.

Yes anyone can post a photo. Recommendations can be found by following the link in the first post. That's also the place to talk about 'What is it?' thread. Rather than have rules, we hope to just let it run and maybe only make a rule or two if the thread runs into any problems.

A tooth?

Ah, that sounds about right Martin, it could be Conor's first tooth that fell out last week!

It looks like some kind of reflective mirror. What's the name of the rock that is shiny...hematite?

It looks like a bit of chalk used to mark things off in sewing. We know that Copago has been sewing a few things on her machine (remember when she asked about needle sizes?).

So, my guess would be a piece of sewing chalk.

Well, I think this is probably quite obvious, but I accidentally took this with my camera phone. If I don't close the shutter, it sometimes takes a pic of it's own accord, and this is the result!

Could it be a C.D?

Yep the tooth fairy came - but Dad had to organise all that as the two of them went camping that night. His second one fell out a couple days later.

I'll agree with the CD too, Slew. Quite an artistic shot for an accident
