First thought was a button of some sort, but then "glass doorknob" sprang to mind...

Thanks for playing along, everybody. Hat off to tw who correctly guessed that it is indeed the stopper from one of our decanters:

We haven't had a 'What is it' for a couple of months, so let's try this one.
OK, it's a notice, but what does it mean?

I got the heavy and crossing from Google, I was waiting for a friend in Wales to respond to my message to her!

In this part of Shropshire we often have dual signage, heaven knows why?

That's it Sherry, presumably a sign you see quite often then? I'm surprised it was correctly identified so quickly
It was on a section of the Welsh Highland Railway near Beddgelert.
Here's the full sign for completion

Well not often, but think it was somewhere near Montgomery or Welshpool where we drive out to buy welsh lamb and beef. Maybe near the Llanfair light railway?

Here's a rather obscure photo.

Good photo; I'd say keys of some sort, but guessing what they're for is a bit too specialised for me I'm afraid

Almost right Agnes, these keys (tokens) do let you change tracks at intermediate ground frames.

The photo was a token release cabinet for electric block working on the railway. There is another machine at the end of this single line (11 miles away) through the town where the signalman restores the token back into the machine for the next train to either go up or down the brach line. It's all to do with safety, and one train in one section at a time.

A different view.

I was going to say a part of an obstacle course .. but then half way up the ropes it looks like taps. Hmmm - something to do with irrigation?
