Here is the Post Office from yesterday. I am sure no cat could be swung in there.

Here is a chandelier at a McDonald's restaurant in the Dallas metro area...yes, the same McDonald's that is known for their "golden arches." The franchisee that owns this restaurant (as well as several others) has 2-4 chandeliers in every one of his restaurants except for one. The first one I saw this way was in Plano at State Highway 121 and Preston Rd.

Talk about casting pearl before the swine. Do they charge extra for light?

Ren that picture makes me think of Bahrain. When we lived there back in the 80's they also had little shop fronts that looked a lot like that. Their Post Office was a lot bigger however.

Lady, I shall put some more photos of the shops soon. Then you can compare.

Our friends' dog, a beautiful Alaskan Malamute.

A couple my grandmother knows has two of those dogs. One comes up to my shoulder when standing up, and I am 5'10" tall.

Lady1, they are about .20 higher than other McDonald's restaurants, so the extra cost is minimal. It is just odd to see as fancy a light in a McDonald's.

You know how they tend to overdo things in Dallas, Dave.

Here's a bit of green in the middle of London, an allotment in Hampstead I've been past hundreds of times and never seen before. You look for things when you have a camera with you.

Picqero, that is the most beautiful dog. It's almost wolf-like!

Here's a jacaranda tree - these are blooming all over L.A. right now. This particular one was in Beverly Hills. My camera doesn't do justice to the vivid purple color they are.

And djsgal, I know what you mean about the camera not doing justice to colors. I know how beautiful those trees are. It's the same way with this flower picture I took today. I guess (?) it's an iris; it looks like one, but I've never seen such a beautiful color orange and yellow one before.

This Flying Fox, or Fruit Bat is about 30 cms long, with a wingspan of about 40cms long. There are many colonies around Sydney, some with thousands of animals. They are not dangerous, but tend to keep people away by peeing on them!

Funny, if you look back a bit, I took one in a roadside flower bed a few weeks back. Aha , found it. Lovely colours I agree.
This street is on the edge of the closed border area. Half is in China and half in Hong Kong and down the middle is a row of stones to mark the border. Even though I had a closed border area permit, the police leapt into action when we tried to go into this street. We got this view from the roof of the restaurant where we had lunch.

Katt doesn't usually sleep in this chair. It is Winston's, unless Mum is visiting, when it is hers. The other day, however, I draped my jacket (you can just see the blue by Katt's head) over the arm, and Katt was curled up to sleep on it in a flash. He has always had a "thing" about using my jackets as pillows!

Thanks, ren. It is indeed a canna lilly. I've spent the morning looking at pictures of flowers. I admit I am ignorant when it comes to different species of flowers.

Here's another little passageway in Hampstead, the old bookshop is still there and the pen and paper shop is opposite.

Thought I should introduce my first grandchild, Phoebe Ella, taken last week on her 3rd birthday (3 weeks, that is!)

ClaraSue, I'm glad Ren knew what your flower was, because I was thinking iris too, though I'd never seen one that color. Really pretty.

Here's another shot from the La Brea Tar Pits. There are little patches of bubbling tar (or asphalt as they call it) all over the 24 acre park.

I can move pictures from the camera to the 'puter again! It's been kind of fun though, to see everyone's photos while not spending any time on Photobucket.

On Sunday, we went to the Devon Horse Show and saw the carriage classes as well as pony jumpers.
