There's just two week till we see the return of the best loved movie character of all time. Set in 1957 and with a 65yr old Harrison Ford. Who cares, its still going to be worth watching.

I think it's pretty cool that he was up for doing a new Indiana Jones film. He's just so iconic, I mean, could you imagine anyone else as Indiana Jones!?! I'd rather see Harrison Ford play this part, at any age, than to even concider watching anyone else try to take on the role.
Truth be told, I'll always have a warm spot in my heart for Mr. Ford. One of my very first crushes was on the cocksure smuggler, Han Solo. I'm very much anticipating the return of one of my heroes, donning that famous Indiana Jones hat.

Gosh, Roofoo, I could have posted your exact message! I remember vividly rushing home from school to be at one of the first showings of Return of the Jedi, just to see Han Solo. Can't wait for May 22.

Yeah ... it sounds like it's going to be pretty darned spectacular. I've been doing some reading about it today and was especially happy (no, make that thrilled) that Karen Allen is coming back as Marion Ravenwood. Her and Indy were just the coolest couple in the first one !

Glad you all agree that no one else could portray this role. I'm as giddy as a school kid as Dr Henry Jones Sr once said. Actually i am one but i'm not often giddy!

I do feel a little squicky about the whole crystal skull thing, though - they're widely recognized as frauds, and I don't like to see filmmakers perpetuate that sort of thing, even in fantasy.

But Stu -there will always be people out there who believe in any thing that comes along, whether it's crystal skulls or making a deal with the blues devil. If those folks didn't have Ralph Macchio to quote, then it would be something else. Besides, if they grew up in Nashville or New Orleans or Austin like some of the deep south bluesmen I've met, they heard that stuff as a bedtime stories -long before the movie came along.
If they stopped making movies about fantasy subject matter, not only would it be a highly weird form of censorship, but would also run Hollywood aground script-wise in about thirty minutes, with no rescue tugs in sight. Does that make sense?

Eh. I'd like it more if Indy were looking for Prester John or Excalibur or Constantine's Spear or something with some real mythology behind it. I think it would be a better movie, more provocative. "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull" is kind of like "James Bond vs. The Fiji Mermaid" for my tastes. Your milage may vary.

"I think it's pretty cool that he was up for doing a new Indiana Jones film. He's just so iconic, I mean, could you imagine anyone else as Indiana Jones!?!" My understanding is that Tom Selleck was the first person selected for the role but he couldnt get out of his Magnum PI tv show. Anyway I'm looking forward to it, Raiders was my favorite movie and it has my favorite movie sound in it. When he stumbles out of the tomb at the beginning surrounded by natives and they draw back their bows. The sound of the bows going back is my favorite movie sound, so now you know. Indiana Jones and Prester John, now that I like the sound of.

I'm a big Tom Selleck fan -but somehow I've gotten used to Harrison Ford as Indy. Selleck would've been almost as good, but is a bit too pretty. Or something. The likability factor is certainly in place, though.

Are you two going to stop banging on about the silly fantasy/fruads things and get back to the Indiana Jones side of it. Is it just me or does harrison ford still look the same apart from the wrinkles and grey hair? 20yrs on and he still looks pretty fine.

We're just giving each other a hard time, girl-action. We do that around here on occasion... And yes, you're right- it's not your imagination...Ford looks terrific for a guy his age. Knowing his personality and disdain for such things -I doubt he's had any cosmetic surgery.

You're right there's no way he's had any surgery, he's against that kind of thing. I read a recent article in the EMPIRE magazine and he seems like a genuine guy with a wonderful personality.

To do it up right - buy a giant buttered popcorn, a Dr. Pepper and just sit back.... Or as Stu says -"Your mileage may vary" So I guess that means take the pop tarts with you.
