Just finishing "Hornet Flight" by Ken Follett. Next up is a biography of Winston Churchill and the historical fiction novel "Lenin". Then Kevin Baker's "Dreamland" a historical fiction novel about 19th century New York City. I think I will also add "Devil in the White City" to my list.

Okay, finished reading "Devil in the White City". Decided to read "Bridget Jones's Diary" a second time and then when I was finished with that I am currently reading "To Kill a Mockingbird". It's VERY good. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend it.

I just finished "The Stand" by Stephen King and "She's Come Undone." by Wally Lamb. I'm reading "I know This Much is True" by Wally Lamb and I'm hoping to read the book I just bought on the Mutter Museum.

Zanette: I have read most of the authors you cite, and would add Terry Goodkind as a great author, whom I'm pretty sure you will enjoy. The series is called the 'Sword of Truth', and starts with 'Wizard's First Rule'.

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", not very original, I know.
I am also re-reading "The Waste Lands" and all of the Stephen King dark tower book to get ready for the new one that is coming out in November.

I just got around to reading "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" about six weeks ago. I really enjoyed it

Right now, I am reading "Samuel Pepys The Unequalled Self" by Claire Tomalin. It is a biography of diarist Samuel Pepys, who lived through some remarkable events in British history. I am enjoying it so much that I am going to watching for other biographies by Ms. Tomalin. Has anybody read any of her other books?

Well, these are typical of my bookshelf, plus a lifetime of reference books extremely useful for FT.
I rarely read non-fiction, and I have two very heavy books on the go at the moment, but both very useful.
One is the original 1957 Experiment in depth by P W Martin, and basically studies the theories and methods of Karl Jung, and how they can be used to seek enlightenment. It also contains some very sound psychological theories.

The second is a highly technical alien related book, The song of the greys, by Nigel Kerner. This has more technical twists than any other I've read, but after about 300 of 400 + pages, I can now say it presents the most logical theory of alien abduction I've read so far (and I've read most of them).

There have been some great books mentioned here by different people. A couple of people mentioned "Miss Garnet's Angel" - I'd join you in recommending that, it's a lovely read. Also "Girl With a Pearl Earring" was wonderful. If you have enjoyed those, I can recommend "Falling Angels" by Tracy Chevalier - a very readable and moving story of two families, told by several different narrators. The end was a little surprising, but I enjoyed it immensly.

I'm also currently reading "if nobody speaks of remarkable things" by Jon McGregor. It's a very unusual book, but I'm finding it hard to put down. The book is almost totally narrated in the present tense, none of the characters are named (except one who is talked about but isn't present) and there is no direct speech at all. But it's totally engrossing, very thought provoking and I can't wait to find out how it will end.

The Chosen. The author's name is long and probably Jewish, so I can't remember it off the top of my head...but this is definitely one of the best books I've ever read so far.

I started "Crime and Punishment" by Dostojewskij a while ago. It´s an amazing book, although the murder scene is really disgusting.

I just finished reading "Bully: The True Story of High School Revenge." It's an interesting book and goes into detail of the death of a bully.

"The Chosen" was written by Chaim Potok. If you liked it, you would probably like "The Promise", which deals with the boys' lives a few years later. Not quite as perfect a book, but still pretty good.

Just started "Captain Corelli's Mandolin". I haven't seen the movie so I have no idea what to expect!

I am currently reading the book "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" in the Narnia series. I've grown into a big fan of Narnia.

I agree, those are really good books, agony. I've read both "The Chosen" and "The Promise" as well as "Davita's Harp" and "My Name is Asher Lev". (all by Chaim Potok) They are really fantastic books, especially if you are intrested in Judaisim. I don't know what I'm reading at the moment, but I'm in the library right now so I'm sure I'll have something before I leave.
