We had a big wind storm here last night. 50 mph straight line winds and almost 70 mph gusts. Came up without warning as part of an otherwise light thunderstorm. Lasted for about 15 minutes, then was gone and the sun came out. One of our trees in back got broken off at the top, trees all up and down the street lost limbs, but the worst for us was our next-door neighbor had about half of a 70 year old oak tree in his back yard break off and a good portion of it landed on his house. It was certainly a mess. The house is surprisingly well off, considering.

Just for the fun of it, here are pics of our broken tree in back. The branches you see hanging over the little play house in the lower left half of the picture used to be at the very top of the tree.

Most of the damage was in back yards where the older trees are. Today, every house down the entire street has a few-foot tall pile of branches on the curb.
