Learning the ropes...

I wonder if anyone can help me with this.

Many years ago I've listened to a piece of classical music that has always been in my mind since, but I don't recal the composer's name.

The piece is very short and strong. It evokes the image of an industrial forge in action (I think that the translated name actually is "The Forge"). I'd say in the style similar to Prokofiev.

I know this is very vague and a shot in the dark really, but in case anyone knows exactly what I am talking about, I'd be eternally in your debt!

The only classical "Forge" I know about (and I don't know too much about classical music ) is the opening scene from the opera "La Vida Breve/Life is Short" by Manuel de Falla. There is a chorus of men working in a forge. It's not an industrial one and also it bears little resemblance, if at all, with Prokofiev's style, as it is a Spanish melody.

I am sure this is of no help to you but I couldn't help posting .
