Sorry, I'm dumber than that. I'll try again later. Thanks for the pointers.

Great photos for June so far. Well done, TW, looks good from here. This is Chico, he's a new addition to the ranch where I ride horses. He's a dachshund/chihuahua mix, quite cute.

I love the pictures of all the animals! Katt is gorgeous, as always, and Chico is so cute And that seagull was really posing for you, Leau! I forgot to mention Gatsby's birdie and Lady's dog. Don't want to leave anyone out Dot surely is a cutie!

Thanks minkpenny, we have had so many sad moments with a number of dogs the past few years and Dot has been around for 10 - with no mishaps (crossing fingers quickly). Yes she is a cutie.

Lunangry, I have an almost identical photo taken on Hampstead Heath. I'll try and find it and post it here when I do. This is the little garden and pond at one of my favourite pubs, and one of the few left after the rest were demolished. It's on a road lined with millionaire country estates in Totteridge.

Tellywellies, I doubt your project will look like a "lump" when finished. ______________________________________ Sometimes while stopped at red lights, I'll take a picture of whatever's in view. This is The Free Library of Philadelphia, built in 1927. I remember going there when young and running around on the rooftop terrace and peering over the sides. (not sure, but that area's probably now closed to the public... too hazardous!) A few months ago while at the library, I visited the rare book department and, among other things, got to see Grip, the stuffed raven! Grip was Charles Dickens' pet who inspired Poe to write The Raven. More on dear old Grip: http://www.ushistory.org/oddities/grip.htm

This long-legged fellow was kind enough to stand quite still on the ice boom for me this afternoon, allowing me to take several pictures. I'm not sure exactly what he is, though, so maybe someone can tell me?
I think it's an egret.

Here's the nest of a cactus wren in a Joshua tree that I saw this morning on my walk in the nature preserve. Larger View Here's a link to information about cactus wrens, for those curious. Wren Info

Wow, everybody has just outdone themselves this week! Lovely butterfly, luna. K, you always post such interesting historical photos. And Gats, love the updates on your baby birds. I could have sworn that I posted this yesterday, but I think I started and got sidetracked. When I was in Louisiana and taking photos of the street murals (posted last week), this less colorful artwork was right next to the murals.

This one's for that woman in Hong Kong -- the one who was Knocked Out by ummmm... somebody this week... Kumquat jam in March '08, brought on by looking at Ren's Chinese New Year photos with all the kumquat trees and the jam she brewed. Ren sent me a recipe, which I dutifully sort-of followed (the kumquats were too tiny) and the jam is good! Try asking, "Have you any kumquats?" in a store and see the funny looks you get.

Lol!! Well done indeed, Kapuskasing, on both counts, the jam and the knockout! Good luck in the next round and the jam looks delicious!
