Some amazing images! Just love all the detail with the new sizing. I now have my first cup of coffee of the day whilst perusing this thread - really look forward to seeing what's new each morning. Thank you everyone for starting my day with a smile.

Even demolition photos look great at this size!

This is a support post in a parking garage. What is interesting is the number of cars that have hit this post parking into or backing out of the space next to it. Check out the number of paint transfers on the post.

This is as close as you can get to the UK Big Brother house at Elstree Studios.

Today I woke up to a lot of noise coming from next door's garden, only to find a big hole being dug in their lawn. Too small for a swimming pool, and they have a pond already. I did a bit of eavesdropping and discovered it is an architecturual excavation - I'm guessing perhaps they are looking for the tunnel that is supposed to run along the edge of the river here in the old town, or maybe another crypt - there is one just a bit further along the main street. By 5pm, the hole was much deeper with some relics being bagged up for research.

Already visible by mid-morning, walls, brick floor and some steps. What has been discovered to date is not more than about 250 years old.

Proximity to river can be seen here.

MORE great photos! ClaraSue, all I can say about that post is *OUCH*! And very interesting happenings there lilyalli.

More from my scanning experiments. This was a pesky moose who loved to show up in my front yard in Alaska and eat my mountain ash tree, circa Jan 1998.

Nice shot of the Moose djsgal and the rest of the photos are great.

Here's a shot of the surf on the road to Hana, Maui, Hawaii.

My roses are out! I'm particularly happy to see these red ones, as they didn't bloom at all last year.

Here's another scene from a stoplight on the Parkway in Philly, with the Art Museum behind me and City Hall straight ahead. William Penn looks upon the city from atop City Hall, and until the mid 1980s, a gentlemen's agreement held that no city building would rise taller than the brim of Penn's hat. Developers scoffed at the quaint backwardness of such an agreement, and buildings soon towered over Penn. Since then, no major Philadelphia sports team has won a national championship; thus, "The Curse of Billy Penn."

The skyscraper on the right, behind the shorter brown building, is the new Comcast Center, roughly 400 feet taller than City Hall. When the final beam was placed in 2007, ironworkers tied to it a small statue of William Penn in hopes of lifting the curse. It hasn't helped... yet.

p.s. Because of FunTrivia, I now recognize the flag on the right!

Oh, Professer, I don't have to imagine! That very thing happened on my one trip to Scotland several years ago, and I was thrilled (I might even have a photo somewhere, but I'd have to find it first and then scan it...)

I yelled out of my window today to ask the archaeologists what they had found as the hole was so deep I thought they were looking for oil. Sorry, just filled up my car - cost £65, so a bit distracted...

They are recording finds, including a grain store back to 1700s. It is reclaimed land, so not that old. Apparently, they cannot access the tunnel, something they had hoped for, due to flood defences and existing wall. Now for the worst bit - this is to establish the history prior to a brand new house being erected in my neighbour's garden - it's going to have an observatory on top so my view from this flat will be diminished.

Have I mentioned how much I love this thread? SO many interesting photos and things happening all around!

Ren, I have loved all the pictures from your art exhibit! What creative kids.

Lilyalli, sorry to hear about the compromising of your view - sounds like the neighbors will have a lovely view though, from their observatory! And I feel your pain with gas prices - I filled my tank and it cost me $81.99 the other day.

The space shuttle is set to land at Kennedy on Saturday, but Edwards AFB is always a back up in case of bad weather in FL. This photo is from last June when it landed at Edwards. It's really incredible to see and hear, as it creates a double sonic boom, once for the front end and once for the rear.

I have found out it was granted a couple of years back. Nobody has right to a view - light, yes, a view - sadly not.
