What a wonderful tranquil image. I can imagine just sitting on that rock and feeling extremely calm and relaxed. It's lovely.

I am just amazed at all of your photos and I also love the larger format. I have to say, many of you could put
'professional photographers' to shame!

Sunlight through a cottonwood leaf from my walk yesterday. I find I don't get too much exercise when I have my camera with me, because I'm always stopping to take pictures!

Here's the famous view across Richmond Hill (the Surrey one named after the original by Henry the 8th) which most residents have a painting of.

This is Makana, a Laysan albatross (Phoebastria immutabilis). Makana resides at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California.

This species is one of the smaller species of albatross. They live in the north Pacific region, ranging between Japan, California and Alaska, and breed in Hawaii, particularly the islands of Midway and Laysan.

These purple flowers are growing on one of the trees in my backyard. Anyone know what they and/or the tree might be? (Apologies if I asked this last year. I don't remember seeing these flowers then, although my memory for things horticultural is never great.)

They look like the flowers on deadly nightshade.

Go to Google images and type in deadly nightshade.

The kelp forest tank in the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This tank is 2-3 stories high, or 28 feet or 8.5 metres - it is one of the biggest/tallest tanks in the world.

This is the centre of Surrey's stockbroker belt in Oxshott. The houses are even more impressive.

Great photos! MG, I'm really enjoying your vacation photos - I need to get back to Monterey Bay again, it's such a neat place.

Welcome, mcshellsie!

Here's a scrub jay from last week.
He finally sat still enough for me to take his picture.

We've been in Poland the past week, and the international Buddy Bears are on display in Warsaw old town. Here are some of them outside the royal palace. I've posted images of them all in trios here and there are individual descriptions here
