Contributors to this and all other forums should use capital and lower case letters in the usual way. Correct spelling and punctuation are also expected.

Bloomsby, your post reminds me of a situation I encountered on the site several months ago. I asked someone not to type in all caps, and she informed me that she was an older woman with a vision impairment.

Perhaps we could make an exception for such people, with the proviso that they should inform us of their special needs?

What do you think?

Ianfranco,
If you come across that woman again, or the same situation with someone else, maybe they could be informed that they can adjust their computer to compensate for the visual impairment. It is generally in the Control Panel, under Display, and it is possible to increase the DPI up to 200% or more. There is also a magnifier that can be turned on and either moved around or locked into place. This will show the text as very large when viewing the monitor, but will show as normal size on here. I have done this for several older friends and it has opened up a whole new world to them. Just a thought. Sandy

Yes, my son is visually impaired, and has no trouble with any website - just use the adjustments possible with the computer. You should also be able to change background colour and font colour (on your home computer), so that there is better definition.

It is far easier to read when written correctly rather than all in one case, so yes it is serious.

What annoys me about having to use proper upper and lower case letters is that I cannot even use my team name in the subject line. Why is it that a team is allowed to use upper case letters exclusively, but cannot use its name in a subject line?
Is it possible to change our team name to the proper upper and lower case letters? I wish to point out that I unfortunately handed over leadership to another team member who has not been online for almost three months, so I do not have the controls that I formerly did. CD

Why should it matter how the team name itself is written (all caps) on the team site? "Team B.C." is the same phrase whether written in caps or standard title spelling with caps and lower case... You can write it in a title with the accepted case and it should be understood by all, or am I missing something?

(Edited to include the Team name)

The difference is that I was trying to explain that TEAM B.C. is the long established team, not the newer team called Team BC. Needless to say, it was difficult to do if I couldn't use TEAM B.C. in the subject line. I am not sure if the other team still exists, but neither am I sure if you can look up a team which has upper case letters using lower case letters instead.

cowdunking,

When I did my search, I found only one team name using that combination of letters. I don't think more than one exists now, but if it does, I can see your point. The system shouldn't a team name to be used more than once, with or without caps. Can anyone else more knowledgeable about these things confirm that there is only one Team B.C. at present?

Sue

The system doesn't permit more than one with the same spelling and characters. TEAM B.C./Team BC. are not the same regardless of case, one has a period between B and C, the other doesn't.

Yes! Thank you for making that clear bloomsby. There have been a few threads started over the last day or so with atrocious spelling errors. I have a strong urge to tell the posters to consult a dictionary prior to posting, but it's not my place to do so.

I should add that the threads I'm referring to are on the chat boards, not the forums.
