Here's a little trick shot I took of my daughter and granddaughter last summer. My granddaughter is standing on the hill behind my daughter. I just had my daughter hold her hand out and then I lined them both up to get the shot.

There you go David. The surrounding paper has been cropped away. If you plan to create more images, there are a number of free programs available that can do that kind of editing. Irfanview and Picasa are two popular ones.
If you decide to progress from using WordArt for image creation, there are a number of free programs around. Windows 'Paint' (part of Windows so already installed) can produce some fairly good ones.

Thanks Martin, I've got Picasa and what I did was use a trial program to convert .doc files to jpeg so I could upload them. Now I know I can just treat them like photos rather than use more Word commands I know where I am. I tried draw when I got it but how you are expected to write or draw using a mouse still beats me. I don't know if there's another way like a stylus but you have shown it's possible but no idea how!

The mentioned IrfanView is quite good. You wouldn't need any sort of converter if this is installed. Pressing the keyboard 'Print Screen' (PrtSc) keyboard button copies what you see on the monitor to the Windows 'Clipboard'. This image can then be pasted into Irfanview. There is a 'crop' tool for cropping away the unwanted parts of the image. The remaining (or wanted) part of it can then be saved as a jpeg ready for uploading and showing in the forum.
If you decide to install IrfanView, read the options carefully as it installs. An optional toolbar is offered. Make sure the option is un-ticked if you don't want to install the toolbar.

Thanks for that information. The doc converter has 30 free goes and then runs out but that's fine as I'm happier with a paintbrush than a mouse or screen for my usual pictures but Word is perfect for signs as it has the same fonts and frames as they did so can copy them very closely. I may add in a real one under that if allowed so people can compare them, but first I need to justify the place names to the left as I missed that bit!

Word art can be fun, i like yours Satguru. Lovely Tredici, i like the graduated colours. The original of this was a yellow miniature rose. Upped the contrast, colour tinted, added noise. 'My Wild Irish Rose' ...

It gave your street a lovely texture Lioness. Wonderful colours Tredici. These were originally some flowers (blue agapanthus)- changed with a lot of different effects... i thought it ended up looking kind of "bridal"

Thanks - I perhaps should say (or have said) that the flower on the lid is an embedded photograph ..but the rest is all created in the program from scratch. I've seen some impressive looking flowers actually drawn using the program but I haven't had a go at one yet. Maybe on the next wet afternoon. Your own and other members' creations are impressive too. Many are as good as any professionally designed greetings card. They would make good cards if anyone felt like branching out into making some.

That turned out very nice, lady1. The red and green lines are so interesting. Love your description Tredici--'a little slide of the arrow here, click of the mouse there.' Like its really that easy. Although it does seem to be for you. Goodyear blimp with a little tile reflection distortion.
