Hello everyone!
I'm Val and I've been on Fun Trivia for a few months now and usually sneak in quietly..do my business.. and sneak out again!

I thought it was time I spoke to some of you wonderful and apparently VERY wise people so here I am. I haven't used a forum before so all advice will be gratefully received and I hope you will forgive any glaring slip-ups that I may make!

Welcome, Val! I'm relatively new as well here, but I guess the best way to get to know the forums and what you can and can't do here is to read the guidelines posted at the top of the page in each category.

General forum advice:

- keep to the topic, that means reading at least the first post of any topic to see what it's about, or if you want to post a new topic be sure to put it in the right category.

- keep in mind this is a forum viewed by young people

- try to keep your posts readable, meaning capitalization and punctuation and whatnot. But you seem to be doing rather well in that department

I'm sure some of the oldtimers here will be able to give you some more and better advice :P

Welcome, Val, and I am so glad you decided to show yourself before just "sneaking out again"! You'll get the hang of it and any *glaring mistakes* can be taken care of by the wonderful Moderators on here. In case you missed it, sucking up to them always helps. Just kidding, explore and enjoy! Sandy

Hi Val, welcome to the forums! I hope you have as much fun here as I do. Don't worry too much about making a slip-up, I do it often in the chain games, and haven't been banned yet.

jordandog... you never told me sucking up helped....

Ola MadMags! Not too good on the Spanish...that's about the extent of it! Bit better at Portuguese...lived there for a few years. Not too sure how to do sucking up in either language though...what if i just try a sexy accent?

Hello and welcome midsomerval! Nobody told me about sucking up either and I've been here for ages! Stick around and have some fun. You won't find a better site anywhere!

Thanks Gatsby722 and ClaraSue for your welcome....having great fun already!
Just one question..on the quiz side of things I have a nice little avatar of a penguin on a laptop (it just seems to suit me!) How can I get the same one here? Is it possible?
I have read the notes but to be honest can't make head nor tail of it all!

I had a cat that used to do that as well...

Glad you've shown yourself now, and I totally agree about the quality of the members here!

You can upload an avatar or pick one of the standard avatars: go to My Home, click the 'edit' button next to 'basic profile'. Is that the same avatar as on the bookworms section? Then I suppose you can find it in the standard avatars, but I'm not sure.
