I am going to a Masquerade ball later this year, but I'm starting to plan my mask now. Does anyone have any ideas/pictures as to the general design of it?
It will be just an eye coverer, and I'm planning to wear a black dress and have the mask either red, purple, or black and silver (or gold)

Thanks in advance

A Masquerade ball sounds like great fun !

HERE is a link to some eye mask templates (.pdf files).
Hope they will be helpful.

So, are you going outrageous, or sophisticated? Feathers and sequins, or just a dusting of glitter on the temple?

I don't know if you have access to craft stores, but our's here sell the basic frames for them in all shapes, colors, and sizes. Then you can buy feathers, sequins, glitter paints, whatever you want to put on it. I did this with a bunch of friends for a Mardi Gras themed party a few years ago. We had blast putting together the masks and came out with some really great results. Everyone thought we had bought them like that.

My daughter had a Masked theme for her 21st birthday. We found realy nice masks at the Dance Shop which also carries a small selection of dress up costumns. It was such fun to see what everyone did that night but as usual there are always those who show up with no mask. Make sure you post a picture of your completed mask. Good luck.

Agony - I'm thinking more sophisticated, but not plain.

Jordandog - I have a plastic template for it already, I'm just stuck for ideas as to what to put on it.

Lady1 - I might have a look at some shops and see if I can find some ideas.

Thanks for your responses!

The store bought ones usually have lots of feathers which can be very attractive. It is a good idea to look at some shops for ideas, that way you can see what you like and dislike. Happy hunting.

Thanks. I'm thinking a base glitter colour and some trimming around the edges...maybe a few feathers.

I've got an idea. When you are done decorating your mask you should use paint or something to mark the date on it somewhere as I'm sure it will be saved and treasured as a valuable keepsake.

(And oh, please let me see it when your done)
