Kira is beautiful, no doubt about that!

Liz, I want to hug your 'mum' everytime I see her too, she is just so precious and I know sitting down with her to chat would be so much fun! It's just wonderful that you have her in your life to enjoy and that you do so much for her. Maybe that's why I feel the way I do about her and don't even know her?

A friend of ours (the one on the right) was invited to a Buckingham Palace Garden Party and took my wife (the one in the middle) with her as her guest. I am not sure who the one on the left is.

What a nice photo, SOTHC! The ladies all look quite proper and I love the hats. Yes, that one on the left looks so familiar to me, but I just cannot place her. Maybe she was on the waitstaff at one of my favorite restaurants?

SOTHC! So you really do have a wife? Does Baloo know?

I haven't learned how to photo-shop, but I think the one on the left needs to be sallowed up a bit.

Btw--I'm told I look like she did 25 years ago and will look like she does now 25 years hence.

Oh my gosh! Can you really just stand right next to The Queen? Where are the Secret Service? I can't even imagine!

What a nice, civilized place!

Although the photo has been 'doctored' getting up close to our royal family has never been really difficult although it might be more so now. Some years back when she was visiting Jersey she wandered about with no one close to her, she came across to talk to a woman I knew who just happened (by chance!) to be holding the leads of a couple of ancient corgis. This woman then presented her with a small gift in a box, an act which is completely against protocol. The Queen looked a bit surprised, accepted the gift then walked off still on her own.

This one was taken a few years ago while I was still working, not exactly the Queen but closely related. That is me on the right!

When we were in Brunei in 1998, the Queen passed through on her way to the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. We met her as she walked through the markets and she stopped to talk to my daughter and her two friends. I think she stopped because the girls were in their Brownie uniforms and she chatted with them about that.

Meanwhile, I took as many photos as I possibly could (unfortunately, they aren't digital so I can't post them here). She was so close I could have reached out and touched her but I was too busy taking pictures. She had her entourage and the secret service in tow, but there really wasn't much in the way of overt security. No barricades or anything to hold back the public.

Could you scan them into the computer?

Mrs TW has met the Earl and Countess of Wessex a few times and was briefly on TV with them. They are patrons of 'Disability Initiative' a charitable organisation where Mrs TW does volunteer work teaching crafts.

The funniest Royal I have met was Princess Margaret. Many moons ago, I was housekeeper to some rich peeps and she was a dinner guest (specially requested shepherd's pie!): what a funny little woman she was - nosing in all the cupboards and asking the most bizarre questions... a bit of a chain smoking boozy lady, but I did rather like her.
Daughter of said peeps was one of the bridesmaids to Diana, princess of Wales - something she preferred to have forgotten. Sadly, she couldnt even remember where she had put the dress.

Thank you Sue. I guess I was the only viewer that didn't "get it." Great pic of you and the 'related' person.

We went to a reunion on my husbands side of the family this summer. This is my favorite picture of an uncle.

What a delightful study in black and white. Is it an old image you've scanned in, or a recent one?

Thanks, picqero. It's a recent photo that I took in July with my (now broken) digital.

Extra nice, Lisa. The black and white seems to fit, somehow.

That is a wonderful photo, ClaraSue. I truthfully don't think that color would have done it justice.

Thanks, Kate!

Sandy, I wanted to shoot both uncle and my father-in-law together sitting on the porch. Both are old-time ranchers and they just looked so neat sitting there. Unfortunately, the pictures weren't as nice as just the uncle ones were. I did get a few in color and you're right, the b/w seemed more fitting. Thanks!

A wedding on the 13th July.
Don't know how many of these guys were "true Scotsmen" though.

Well maybe you needed a bit of time for 'research' there Twodeez. Welcome, by the way. Can you tell us whose wedding it was. Yours?

Not my wedding Ren. A very good friend of mine(he's not even in the pic).
Just sold up his pub, going to be travelling Australia, Tokyo and Hong Kong. No kids, and no sign of them either. He and his missus are away for a year, quite right too.

ClaraSue, that is simply a wonderful portrait. One of those pictures that can convince you the subject is one of your favorite Uncles, and if by some chance he's not, then he should be.

Welcome Twodeez. What a wonderful picture you provided too. You can feel the good cheer.

Wonderful photos, everyone!

ClaraSue - I love black and white photography. Your photo reminds me of one that I saw in Richard Avedon's In The American West.

TwoDeez - You're missing the dodgy barnet
