My Favorite cable channels are the History and Travel Channels. I always see something fascinating and learn something differrent on them. I've learned about the BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle), the origins of hot dogs and Coca-Cola, the weapons of the Old West gunmen, the dos and don'ts of Las Vegas and how cheats operate there, vacation cruises, the Spartans at Thermopylae...man, I've learned a lot on those channels! Who says you can't learn anything on TV? Anybody else watch History and Travel?

I used to watch the Travel Channel on Wednesday nights, but now don't really anymore, as the World Poker Tour moved to GSN this past fall.

I love those channels too. I also really like Discovery Health. You can really learn quite a lot by watching the documentaries these channels air.

I watched that documentary about the origins of hot dogs, tjoebigham, it was very interesting! There was also a good one about candy and another one about different types of toys.

I like watching Mystery Diagnosis on the Discovery Health channel. On each episode, they show at least two people who have had rare illnesses and the way they had to deal with the illness and how it was discovered.

Also, the Discovery Channel made a special documentary about the Nasa Missions that is really very interesting. They've already aired four episodes over here, and there are two more left. One of the great things about this documentary is that it features a lot of the austronauts that have worked and work for Nasa. Watching Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell and many other astronauts talk about their experiences with the space program was great. A very well done documentary.

haha! I was going to comment also that it seems that History Channel is only about wars. Theone I tend to watch most in Nat Geo - there seems to be a good variety on there.

I have a serious addiction to documentaries no matter what channel they're on. I especially like cultural histories - the histories of things and the impact they had or the situations that shaped them (i.e. history of ferris wheels, Christmas, the Hope diamond, etc). But pretty much anything (except maybe Hitler ). I just discovered that my cable provider has added the "International History" channel as well as the regular one - I'm doomed!!!

I most enjoy Modern Marvels, or anything about the building of LARGE things. I especially liked the Hoover Dam, Empire State Building and Golden Gate Bridge documentaries!

I enjoy both channels. The history of various assorted things is always fun to watch. On the Travel Channel my favorite is "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations".
