Welcome to the August photo thread. The July thread will be left open for a while to allow for World time zones. It will close it once it is August 1st for everyone. Post in either thread (but not both) until then. If anyone needs information on how to post photos, it can be found in the ' Photo posting guide' located at the top of the forum.

This is a close up of the Central Tower of Lincoln Cathedral, During the summer months if you are fit enough you can climb the many steps to the top of it. When on the outside if it is a clear day you can normaly see the Boston stump.
Lovely picture, Gary. I have done this and can confirm it is well worth the effort. I didn't have to huff and puff to see the Boston stump yesterday - from the opposite side but it was not as clear as it sometimes is. X marks the spot. An uncrowded beach, a book, a drink and an occasional dip in the very warm sea, followed by the best fish and chips we've had for a long time!

Not much of an image, I know, but thought it worth a mention about the stump, which is reputed to be the tallest parish church in England. This picture was meant to catch a flock of sanderlings, the strangest of birds, but they flew off....

Today I went to the International Motor Show at the Excel Centre in London. There were some fascinating cars, from past, present, and possible future. Also the usual pretty models being photographed with the cars, though I doubt if this actually attracts many buyers I thought this image of the photograher, model, and car was quite interesting. The car, by the way, is a Renault Megane Coupe

Love the one of the Tower, Prof, and the surrounding buildings. Neat, Sherry, and Lily, that sounds like a perfect day to me! That is a great capture, tw. bhs, Did the mentor just tell his young cohort a hilarious joke because that is what came to mind, they are laughing! Interesting shot, picqero, and I have 3 of those cars myself - in my dreams anyway. ClaraSue, that sunset is breathtaking!

I spent a day in Cambridge, where I was at college. I must say I could hardly recognise the view from Magdalen Bridge, Lots of modern buildings. But the punts are the same.

Thanks, everybody! One of the good things about my job is seeing sunrises/sunsets from all over the country.

Beautiful hibiscus bhs; they're normally only grown as indoor pot plants here in the UK. I've been painting all day today, so here's another image from my visit to the Motor show yesterday. One of Team Renault's Formula 1 cars, though obviously not one of those being used by Alonso or Piquet this week-end in Hungary.

Oh Jane, how exciting! I am glad you had a lovely time. Welcome back! Our beautiful Cathedral in Gloucester is originally from the early 11th C. The west window is lovely and has some of the early images (14th C) of people playing Golf , and a ball game believed to be Soccer.

Looks like you have been to Torquay, Jane. Here is a peacock standing guard at David Austin Roses last week... was very noisy!
